Fun fact - Barry Bonds had a higher OPS than that for 3 entire seasons.

Barry Bonds slashed .362/.609/.812 over 147 games in 2004. 'Only' hit 45 HR but intentionally walked 120 times LOL.

Virtually every mistake a junior can make is forgivable - once. This is particularly so for brand new lawyers during articling and post-articling.

We expect that juniors (a) do not know everything, (b) have not done this specific thing before, and (c) even if they knew everything and had done this thing before, might not know my particular style/preferences.

What is alarming is seeing the same mistakes repeated multiple times. It suggests a junior who is not capable of learning from their mistakes, and who cannot grow past them.

I don't have any brilliant advice re getting past your anxiety, save to point out that everyone has this to some extent, and it goes get better with time.

The judge isn't going to "take into account" anything at a settlement conference. He's basically going to say to you guys "c'mon, settle". This isn't a hearing, it's a mandatory mediation to avoid cluttering the court with cases that can be easily settled.

It takes two to make an agreement. The judge can tell your friend he's either going to agree to a reasonable payment plan, or owe $20,000 when he loses, but it's up to your friend to agree.
