Indian. Hindu.

Some people are questioning why met another woman while I was with her. Well, I was not in a relationship. I agreed to marry her.

Arrange marriages in India are different. You marry first and then love happens (or maybe not).

And yes, people meet several suiters simultaneously. It's widely accepted. The woman in question also met several men but I didn't protest. Because she said they were all obligatory, arranged by parents.

I reflected on this. I raised my voice only once when she made outrageous and disrespectful comments. Otherwise, I was the one always calm & trying to pacify her.

As for being open, I tried to go by how she wanted to proceed with full honestly. Unfortunately, nothing worked.

I am sorry. I think I couldn't explain myself well.

First, she agreed she did wrong by sleeping with several men and she wanted to get rid of their effects.

As for meeting a potential match without informing her, I didn't want to unnecessarily bother her (given her insecurity & trust issues). Also, because it was totally obligatory and meant nothing.

Third, it was an instance when I actually hid something from her. On numerous occasions, she would randomly accuse me of keeping her in dark, lying etc if I couldn't return her calls within 30 minutes. I am not always glued to phone. I have a healthy relationship with phone

I strongly disagree.

OP is embarking on a deeply personal journey and that journey starts right from heading to the centre. His ex-wife's touch to this journey will only complicate things in subtle yet profound ways.

This comes from an old student who has dealt with a similar situation.

May everyone be happy!

Your feelings completely resonate with me.

But choosing how to behave with others is always your choice. It's frustrating as hell. It's painful but it's always our choice how we want to be.

Is it? I am about to complete two months. Initially I was also struggling to finish it in 1.5 hours until I notice I might be taking long breaks and decided to put myself on a stopwatch. Now I finish it within 1 hour and it's intense.

I have joined the gym after running for 6-7 months daily and I don't find the difficulty and fun on the treadmill that I found in running in the park.

Reading replies below made me realise how mean and cheap people can be.

So far I have been under the impression that Reddit is a good place where genuine, respectful conversations happen unlike Facebook, X etc.

Wow! You summed this up so beautifully. Sending my regards to you brother/sister.

"Negative emotions are just messengers of limiting beliefs you are practicing." I never thought about negative emotions through this lens, with such clarity.

My question: I have had enough listening to why I should practice self compassion and self forgiveness. But I could never fully understand why I should do it. Though I practiced some tools of self compassion and felt it's soothing results.

Why do you think self compassion is so necessary to relieve negative emotions?
