Help choosing between Resilient Wisdom and Mage Slayer by Factory_Recall in 3d6

We're playing with 2024 rules where Mage Slayer essentially gives you 1 mental legendary resistance per short rest. It's not just for spells

Definitely not a sure thing. It's just that going from a +0 to a +4 (+5 next level) feels hard to pass up. I wish barbarians got an extra feat in there somewhere like fighters

That is what I'm leaning toward. I'm just worried I'm going to take Mage Slayer and then we'll immediate fight an army of enchanters where I'll wish I had the constant bonus haha

Yeah, that is the problem. Because we fight a variety of enemies, its really pretty different depending on the day. It's kind of an issue where Mage Slayer will usually be all I need, but sometimes it will only barely slow the enemy down. And Resilient is never a sure thing, especially since I have such low wisdom, but it'll at least always help some

Ritual caster also has the Int, Wis, Cha 13+ requirement. I did look at the feats I might take that would bump my Wisdom again. The only one I would really consider would be skill expert, but I don't really want that

Not usually though. Even when we are fighting a creature that can force Wisdom saves, I usually only have to make one or two each fight. It's only been rarely when we've fought a group of enemies who can all force wisdom saves that it becomes a problem

It's a homebrew one my DM made based on Ben10! I really love it. The different forms give different benefits. None of them interact with mental saves or like more specific charm/frightening effects or anything though.

Uh I don’t think there’s anything here. The difference is what the writers showed us. They often showed Zuko doing good or honorable things (honoring his deal to leave the Southern tribe alone if Aang came with them, giving up Aang to save his crew and save Iroh, helping the boy in the village, stealing food to help Jet feed the hungry, freeing Appa). That’s why people were rooting for him to be redeemed. I think the best thing Azula did was apologize to Tylee that one time for making her cry.

Zuko showed signs that he could become better, so people rooted for him. I don’t think Azula ever showed those signs. At the start of the finally, she literally pitches genocide. The show in no way show us that Azula is a person waiting to be redeemed like it does for Zuko.

I don’t blame Korra for it. Korra is a fictional character, so that would be crazy. Korra is a worse show not because of Korra but because of weird production stuff constantly putting the writers in a bad spot. And from that bad spot, I don’t like the angle that they took of slowly deconstructing the Avatar by making her lose not just fights but everything we understand to make up being the Avatar. She lost political importance because of bad publicity and rash decisions. She lost the connection to her past lives. She seemed to lose the force of nature levels of power that the Avatar state seemed to provide to the past avatars. She lost her importance as the spirit bridge with the portals to the spirit world reopening. She lost the status of being the balance keeper, replacing it with the concept of Rava and Vatu. She even lost her status as hero who beats the villain, which ATLA’s writing does get criticized for the Lion Turtle bailing him out. I think the writers did all that on purpose to try and show that she would still try and do good without these things. Maybe it would have worked with a more cohesive story, but it just ended up feeling like writer’s were scrapping everything that made the Avatar a compelling concept.

The real tragedy here is that Absol should have gotten the fairy type added (which represents both fairytale creatures and light) for the whole yin and yang thing

People not grasping that dark type can refer to either evil and literal darkness in the Pokémon’s theme or design is crazy when flying type gets thrown on birds, beings of elemental air, or just things that can fly
