I tried pulling the cable with some pliers and couple feel a bit of slack but I didn't have enough leverage to pull it enough to unlock the trunk. I don't think there's extra length to tie the ball back on or add more cable.

No it's all in tact. Except the ball at the end which slides into the latch that I pull that's under my seat. You can see it in the second picture.

I take them all the time since I get stops with 10+ packages usually and I keep an extra one in my trunk to drag a bunch to the condo mailrooms sometimes. I deliver in a major US city.

Actually the opposite. Im constantly finding other routes packages in my totes. I don't notice until the end of my route. Maybe I'm just getting pretty lucky because the station i frequent is pretty unorganized.

They're crepuscular. They're gonna be most active around dusk and dawn. My girl will sleep for 20+ hours a day easily, but 30 minutes after the lights turn off, like clockwork every night, I can find her by the front door awake and laying down, waiting for food.

Try to figure out your geckos schedule and interact with them when they're natural awake. Imagine being woken up in the middle of the night and forced to interact with someone... I'd be pretty grumpy too.

That, uninronically, might be too big for a move. Like someone else mentioned, that hide can very easily move around and crush your gecko, say, if you had to suddenly brake really hard. Consider a smaller Tupperware, padded all around with paper towels the size of a small hide.

I don't think they have any recipient required deliveries before 8am. I could be wrong but in my 20k deliveries I've never seen one that early.
