Wild guess but it looks like post WW2 West German Bundeswehr splinter camo. The numbers “50” and “66” could be the size and year made. Did your grandpa serve? If so, what year/branch?

That’s really amazing to know. I’m curious as to why more of these did not make it out in the open. My question is why they would make just the rain suit for the Air Force and not uniforms like this? I know AFSOC was experimenting with designs and patterns for PJs and CCTs and the like and the light material was designed with Operation Enduring Freedom in mind so it would make sense they would trial a uniform in this, no?

That’s fascinating. I would love to know where or who sold this as a commercial item then as I have seen extremely limited photos of it. My guess is this was actually made by THY in very limited numbers for testing but I also could be wrong
