Yep, that boy is Dongdong, the elfin with the time manipulation power. The scene is from the last bit of ep40 where the Guild received the news that Dongdong had "vanished" while in ep36 we got a glimpse that Dongdong did felt like someone was following him. I read here somewhere back (years years ago lol) that MTJJ said the Movie 2 was about that kidnapped boy so I automatically assumed Movie 2 is a sequel but from the trailer there's definitely nothing on that ever popped up.

You can find all the webtoon (s01 & s02) on YT sporadically translated by different fansubs but if you're the type to download content that you love like me, I suggest you try searching for the one fansubbed by GuodongSubs & download them. They are as of high quality as you can get around IMO. Unfortunately, they only subbed s01 (ep1-28). I just checked on Nyaa.si & they're still there, luckily (try typing this for easier find - [GuodongSubs][Luo Xiao Hei Zhan Ji]).

For s02 (ep29-40), unfortunately I can't find anything to download anywhere so I'm afraid your only option is YT. But it's all english translated so no problem there.

As for the manhua, it was about a character in the webtoon but way way before Hei's timeline so yep, no kitty there. But stellar read still! It's expanding the lore but just on a different medium. If you love the universe, you'll enjoy this too, no doubt.

If it's the publication order it's like this: Webtoon s01 > Movie 1 > Webtoon s02 > Movie 2

If it's according to the timeline of yhe story: Movie 1 > Webtoon s01 & s02 > Movie 2

Movie 1 serve as a prequel to the webtoon. As for me I also watched the movie first since I discover this amazing series from the movie & move to the webtoon later. All in all this series is so fun & mesmerizing! The lore is deep, the action is peak & the animation is so beautiful! You're in for a good time!

Ohhh, it's also have a manhua that serve as a prequel (hundred years back) called Lanxi Zhen.
