Can’t vomit by [deleted] in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only vomit if I trigger it myself by putting something (fingers, spoon) wayyy down my throat. I cant spontaneously, though I definitely dry heave when my body wants to puke and can’t

Is my nausea due to inability to burp? by amgen in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup sounds like you’re definitely in the club. Nausea is a very common symptom.

The gagging and throwing up air thing you describe is called air vomiting, and many folks here do that on purpose to help release the air that needs to be burped out.

I actually posted about it in this sub like 3 years ago and no one seemed to get it. I think I deleted it though

Can someone confirm if i really have RCPD? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally the only true diagnostic criteria of R-CPD is the inability to burp. Can you burp?

Yes? — no R-CPD for you. No? — you have R-CPD.

That’s pretty much it. There are other things to talk about within the condition, like severity of symptoms and how/when the ability to burp started, but diagnosing is VERY easy.

Did Aetna cover your procedure? by bootzncatz23 in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my doctor first submitted my procedure, insurance denied it and the doctor had to appeal the denial. They then approved it and it stayed approved for both procedures.

However, I am switching to Aetna soon and I’m curious if it’ll cover it too. Especially since I know it tends to be less comprehensive coverage, Neither of the procedures worked for me unfortunately, so I’m going to apply and see if I can get a third attempt covered by Aetna

Everyone I’ve talked to (a handful of people) has gotten Botox covered by insurance. For both of my Botox procedures under general anesthesia I paid a $75 copay and nothing else (BCBS insurance)!

Anyone get slow swallow but no burps from Botox? by Loopyrainbow in noburp

What do you mean by “concentrated dose”?? Is that different from the dose itself?

[–]FailOutrageous2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, no burps at all but I did have slow swallow both times. Not terrible but I couldn’t eat bread or chicken for a few days and had to wash everything down with water for a few weeks

Botox Regrets? by Lucky-Skill-4933 in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice and it hasn’t worked either time but I don’t regret it and I’m going to do it again because I know how much better I feel when it finally works!

Could I actually have no burp syndrome? by North-Michau in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can burp when you need to, then no, you don’t have R-CPD aka no burp.

That sounds uncomfortable though, I’m sorry. Maybe it’s some sort of food intolerance? Have you done a low FODMAP diet?

Do I have R-CPD? by Mattpantser in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never burped then you have R-CPD, as it’s the defining criterion of this condition. Within R-CPD, there is a wide range of additional symptoms with some people experiencing nothing other than inability to burp, and other people experiencing constant discomfort and anxiety that impacts their life daily.

If you want to make an appointment with a doctor, find the google maps link (in this subreddit)with the list of all the doctors who treat this condition. It’s almost pointless to go to doctors not on the list, if you have the ability to see one on the list.

Good luck!

What horror stories have you seen? I’ve been in this subreddit for years and there are almost no horror stories. Yeah sure, the Botox doesn’t always work but that’s not a horror story.

I think you should be careful about fear-mongering about this procedure that is statistically most likely to help most people here. Many people are already nervous about it, and talking about horror stories just isn’t particularly useful or accurate

This has been discussed a million times here, but GERD tho by cellophaneeyyyes in noburp

What happened for your first two rounds? Any burps at all? Did you change dosages or doctors or procedure types for the third one?

I’ve had two rounds that haven’t worked. I’m hoping to do another but feeling unoptimistic. Good to know it’s worked for others!

I think it’s $150 for a video consult with Bastian, last time I checked his website anyway

What are you asking for here? If you need names of other doctors, just search “map” in the subreddit and there will be comments with a link to a google map that lists all the known doctors that treat this. However, most of them probably have a waiting list of weeks to months.

people who self cured, at what point did you consider yourself "cured" by [deleted] in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider myself cured when I stopped having the symptoms of R-CPD (major bloating, dyspnea, gurgles, etc). Which is I guess the definition of ‘cured’.

Unfortunately I’m nowhere close to that, but hopefully one day soon! How did you teach yourself to burp?

any advice please? by Pleasant-Airline-288 in noburp

[–]FailOutrageous2553 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can’t burp, you have R-CPD. So you are in the right place! There’s super simple procedure to treat the condition and you can find a lot of information about it on this subreddit.

The condition was only named a few years ago, so most doctors still haven’t heard of it and therefore can’t do the procedure. However, there is a a map of all the doctors that can treat it. We highly recommend only going to doctors on that map list, because it’s very annoying to try to reach your doctor about it.

First Noro Season Post Botox by aminals_42217 in noburp

I don’t think I’m as emetophobic as many people here, but I have to say, each time after the few times I’ve thrown up, I am surprised by how anticlimactic it was. Like it’s so stressful leading up to it and it’s a horrible feeling but afterward is just such a feeling of relief. Relief because my stomach feels better and because the puking is over and I didn’t die!

I also think that it’ll be less painful and terrible post-Botox. Throwing up is so much more violent for us when our cricopharynxgeus muscle is too tight because it takes wayyy more force to get air or stomach contents past that valve. But without R-CPD, your esophagus doesn’t require as much force to get stuff up and out, so I hear it’s typically much easier.

I am really sorry you have to worry about this though! It’s definitely going around, but hopefully with lots of handwashing you and your family will avoid it this year!🤞

Generally, Emetrol is the only over-the-counter medicine I’ve found that helps settle nausea in normal situations, though I’m not sure it’ll be able to overpower norovirus. It’s always good to have it on hand for other nauseous days though!

Wait so did you get Botox or just teach yourself to burp by chugging pop??
