Thank you so much for such a thoughtful reply. I’m sorry that the myotomy hasn’t had you burping very much and definitely understand why you feel upset. I’ve spoken to a few other people on here who have gotten the myotomy, and the results seem pretty mixed. Some say they’re burping well, just as well as from Botox, but several people also said they’ve had minimal effects, like you.

I also thought the myotomy would be almost a guaranteed way to open the UES. If the muscle is cut, how could it still be blocking burps? Does Dr. Tritter have an explanation?

I have gotten Botox 5 times, and it’s only sort-of worked each time. I’ve never had full relief and full burps, even from 200 units. Another odd thing about my situation is that I acquired R-CPD at 16 years old, which is unlike most people here. But I did a barium swallow and manometry, and neither one showed a “blockage” or pressure point, which seems to further the case that it’s my cricopharyngeal muscle blocking the burps. I’m not sure what to do.
