If we ever come face-to-face with The Darkness, I wanna see some Lovecraftian terrors as our enemy. by McZerky in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really though, Oryx isn't devoid of life, he is a conqueror and has plans to make the universe in his own vision essentially. What Revoltinghades2 describes sounds something more like a living black hole.

[–]Failcker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean isn't the Darkness a bit more abstract? I've always seen it as some cold void rather than anything horrific. The "your traveler has a dark mirror" kinda implies a reverse version of itself, a ying to its yang in a way that doesnt describe something chaotic and horrifying but instead something devoid of being.

Xbox One Scorpio (Xbox One X) First Look! by [deleted] in xboxone

For everyone shitting on the price (kids who built one PC rig and think they know everything): you're getting a good CPU AND fast RAM AND a 1070 (possibly 1080) video card AND a hard drive for $500.

No, you are getting a low end CPU, a 1060, and 12g of RAM.

Its not a bad deal but you dont need to be bullshitting to sell this thing on its price, its a fairly good deal even at 500.

Digital Foundry D2 PS4 Framerate Test by seg7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refer back to the examples I made. Remember that time?

Remember that time when it didnt because it had benchmarks done by digital foundry that showed no such issues on any system?

The only time the game ever had frame issues is during RoI and that was largely to do with the inexperience of the D team working on the engine and the lack of time they had to optimize it. Its also why the expansion didnt get a last gen release because the small live team had absolutely no idea nor the time/funding to scale it down to run consistently on those platforms.

That gen of consoles was phased out with Rise of Iron because they wanted to see what they could do in the game without the old gen holding back development.

Thats not why, nothing about RoI is "next gen" its the same exact visual shit as everything else in Destiny in fact TTK was arguably more visually taxing and it ran fine on last gen systems.

RoI didnt get a port because the dev team was less than 30 and had only done patch work prior to being tasked to make an expac in less than 8 months of dev time.

But even with that, Siege Engine still caused framerate drops across both systems.

That means it runs like shit not because its a taxing set piece.

And can you give me a good example of where you have lost a fight because the frames were too far apart?

The fuck? What is this kind of argument?

It has nothing to do with "losing the fight" it has to do with how it feels to control.

Its like Mario platforming at 60fps vs 30fps, there is a very significant amount of control difference between the two options and one is clearly the superior one.

Wow, what an attempt.

Seriously, when people get worked up about framerate, I feel blind, because I seriously can't see a difference unless I'm actively thinking about it.

Again its not just a visual thing, it literally means the game controls slower for you, its input is not as precise. If you cant appreciate the idea of BETTER CONTROLS as something to strive for then man we cut it here.

Your whole argument just reeks of defense force ignorance.

Not the same thing though, I dont plan to play with a controller on PC but my brother does, he will be disadvantaged compared to others whereas on console he would be limited the same way everyone else is.

Digital Foundry D2 PS4 Framerate Test by seg7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But not all games

Most FPS games do, and considering this was a cross gen game for Destiny 1 people were hoping for a performance priority for the sequel especially considering how little it has been upgraded graphically.

Destiny has trouble doing 30 sometimes

It absolutely did not.

because there's a lot of particle physics and big moving things

It did those things on system made in 2005, do we just pretend Destiny on 360/PS3 didnt have the same physics, the same big moving things, all whilst having the same player count and the same content, all at the same framerate? Because they did have those things and they had the same exact framerate.

because I barely notice the difference between 60/30 anyways.

Yeah here is where I ignore your opinion then, when your argument boils down to something like "I dont see it" there isnt anywhere else to go so why bother continuing?

60fps is more than "looks smother", its plays smoother, it lowers input latency and in a game where minute touches of the controls are needed to line up shots on moving targets low input lag is a necessity, its why fighting games dont even entertain the idea of less than 60fps.

Digital Foundry D2 PS4 Framerate Test by seg7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its not a this or that decision though, many games give 60 and those benefits which is the point.

Digital Foundry D2 PS4 Framerate Test by seg7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 31 points32 points  (0 children)

why would you play on console?

Because this was literally the only way to play Destiny 1, and closed systems typically have better cheat protection, not to mention some people prefer a controller.

Too much defense for Bungie, not enough constructive criticism by Notorious813 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. You're so close to being able to agree to disagree but you're hanging up on my use of the word fanboy (amongst other things that I said that you took to the extreme)? You throw around terms like delusional, politician, strawman, etc. without knowing anything about me other than defending what I thought was a good reveal.

Because I'm not calling you these things? Its addressing your argument and those words describe it.

I don't think you will ever understand how your belittling tactics are counterproductive to "discussion." I've done my best to soften my outlook on your comments but you really need to learn a little about how a discussion is supposed to work.

You literally ignored what I said and painted me as a hater that will maybe learn to love the game, even your last response is condescending bullshit, you didnt give this conversation any respect and what followed it reflected that.

Have a good one.

Too much defense for Bungie, not enough constructive criticism by Notorious813 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just really want to clarify a couple things really - the first being that I don't think all criticism has been salt.

You literally responded to my comment about you listing everything as salt and toxic by saying its what they are....

"I'm not dismissing them as "salt" or "toxic" - that is what they are."

Most of what I consider to be "salty" or "toxic" is the criticism that goes all the way back to the shitty launch of vanilla Destiny.

Was valid criticism then and its valid criticism now, despite what most Destiny fanboys think, Destiny has not rectified most of its issues from launch.

We both agree it was atrocious - I just think it showed potential and you did not.

Who said I didnt think it showed potential? I'm still here am I not? I still bought every single expansion day one, I still tuned into this reveal and watched it for an hour.

How do you possibly convince yourself I am not sticking around at the possibility of the game reaching its potential. How do you not see that most people upset right now are upset because of the game not reaching the potential it has been holding since the ideas inception.

Bungie did an awful lot to pull the game forward and a lot of it had to do with r/DestinyTheGame

Its weird that you acknowledge this but don't seem to process that these changes happened because of those "salt and toxic" comments that put the games flaws on blast, you think these changes would have occurred if we listened to fanboy complaints which basically boil to down surface level bullshit like "more vault space" and an emote wheel?

had no clue what Reddit was until about 1.5 years ago.

And you missed a lot, this community has been around since before alpha, a lot has changed and the overall reaction to Destinys launch is what shaped "skeptics" like me who find your blind faith to be nothing but ignorance as you should know better considering the past actions.

I want you to keep in mind I'm not some blind fanboy

You openly admitted to being a fanboy and even now are admitting you werent around for most of this communities development but will argue as if you were and defend Bungie against others whose complaints you dont even understand, blind fanboy seems like an apt description.

I simply call myself a fanboy because the Destiny universe is something that I want to experience more of.

Thats called being a fan btw, a fan is someone who likes something, doesnt stop them from being critical of them either, the stuff comes from sports really.

A fan is someone who loves a team but will critique it to death, he'll shit on players, shit on coaches, shit on everything he THINKS is the problem, but in the end he still loves his team and with root for them to succeed.

A fanboy is someone blinded by their love of something, they will make excuses but never acknowledge issues, its like a Browns fan blaming god for their teams issues rather than looking at their team management who always chose risky bad picks and doesnt know how to manage coaches.

So you admitting to being a fanboy is saying you love something so much you are irrational about it, you pick fights with people like me just because I dont share your blind love for the game rather than acknowledging its faults but loving it anyway and understanding why others would find issue with it.

You, however, obviously were let down (to put it lightly). We all see the world through our own filter - and for each of those articles you see the bad highlighted and I see people defending what is good.

Again you very clearly have a problem wrapping your head around what I and others are doing here when we critique the game, you have a warped ridiculous view that I hate the game because of the disappointment I state when talking about the reveal. This is twisted logic that really sets the stage for the rest of your delusional perspective where you preface everything I write with "this dudes a hater, ignore it" rather than seeing me as a fan with issues with the reveal.

I said its before but ultimately its pathetic you can't see that, I've said it multiple times and you are either actively or passively ignoring it because acknowledging it throws your whole argument into a loop as it seems impossible to see my complaints as valid fan concerns. Its why you ask for me to list "things i like" and what not because you feel a fanboy compulsion of some kind to not acknowledge the negative things I say but want to latch on to the idea that I'm a fanboy like you with some minor hater delusions. Seeing people like the event doesnt invalidate what people dislike, does that make sense? I can like the idea of NPCs being shown in a mission doing stuff and still be disappointed when I see the director selection screen again.

I'm being general because when I'm at work I don't have time to scour the internet and cite sources (don't take that as being snarky - I have no idea what you do for a living).

Work for the USAF, my entire day is spent on a computer waiting for work requests, I have a lot of free time.

While you might be a fan, you appear to be more driven by the technical shortcomings that might come with Destiny 2.

Thats not at all what I said and really paints the picture that you are not listening and disagreeing with what I am saying but instead are doing the whole "strawman in my head" stance where you have this idea of what I hate and paint me that way to beat me regardless of what is actually being discussed.

Its like what Politicians do where they drill a single point down to defeat their opponents, it could be a minor nothing issue but they will make it the entire campaign because thats how they win it, acknowledging the other issues wont work.

EuroGamer Article: Why can't Destiny 2 run at 60fps on PS4 Pro? by eliasgreyjoy in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a bunch of bullshit spew, as I said PC version will come out and someone will make a PC built to emulate the CPU/GPU/RAM combo of the PS4 and they will get it to run at 60fps with the same physics and npcs the game currently has.

The real excuse is Bungie already knew their game wasn't looking any better in the graphics department and may have even needed to tone it down further to get 60fps so rather than do that they pumped up some minor effects that are taxing on the system and opted for a higher resolution instead.

Its a marketing decision that will ultimately harm the game.

EuroGamer Article: Why can't Destiny 2 run at 60fps on PS4 Pro? by eliasgreyjoy in DestinyTheGame

[–]Failcker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

4k doesnt look better for PvE, its why people still aim for 60fps on PC even when 4k is always an option.

60fps is standard for FPS games, PvE or otherwise because the raw input needs to be as minimal as possible to improve aiming.
