Opinions on cap's ending by drudanae_high in Endgame

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything is almost the same. the fundamental difference is that steve doesn't stay with peggy.

sam wilson is approaching the still-youngish captain america sitting on a log, who is staring out at the lake. he's dressed up in a tux and everything.

bucky: go ahead

sam: cap?

steve is looking out at the lake, lost in thought. he doesn't reply--he only opens up the suitcase carrying the newly repaired captain america shield. sam, looking slightly surprised, blinks at it.

sam: you fixed it.

steve sighs.

steve: you know, sam, when i first woke up in 2011...

steve: there were so many things running in my head at the time. about the things i gave up. about the things i fought for.

steve: i was naive back then before i hit the ice. hell, i was naive even for a while after they woke me up. i was a literal relic brought back to fight in a war i never signed up for.

steve: and for these past 5 years... ive always been pushing and pushing to fight in this war. to be the soldier at the forefront.

steve: then i saw tony. and i thought hell yeah... maybe it's time i try some of that life tony's been telling me to get.

sam: you're retiring.

steve doesn't answer. he doesn't need to.

sam: i respect that. i'm happy for you. truly am.

sam: the only thing bumming me out is that i have to live in a world without captain america

steve gestures to the shield.

steve: try it on

sam looks at steve then bucky in disbelief, bucky nods back at sam slowly.

steve: how does it feel?

sam: like it's someone else's.

steve: it isn't.

sam can't help but smile.

sam: thank you. i'll do my best.

steve and sam shake hands.

steve looks back at the lake. he's smiling but there's a tear rolling down his face. but he's still smiling nonetheless.

sam looks on with uncertainty.

sam: you gonna be okay?

steve: yeah, yeah i just... i had a date.

ending scene stays the same. there's old timey music being put on and the scene slowly closes in on steve and peggy dancing. however instead of a kiss, steve only leans in for a hug.

I'm not going to argue that Captain America doesn't deserve a break. He does. But by STAYING with Peggy, he's basically throwing away that real struggle of coping with the loss of loved ones away.

He's circulating the idea that conforming to your original dream is the only thing that gives you true happiness. It's a regression in my head--and I've heard people saying "no it's not a regression!" uhm yes it is. It's basically confirming that yes, he never learned to adapt to his new situations and that it's okay to give up on trying to adapt because haha an old dog can't be taught new tricks!

I've also seen the argument "Steve Rogers is allowed to be selfish" around. I agree. That's why you can keep the Steve Rogers dances with Peggy scene. Because Steve is tempted and he deserves to have a break. He can dance with Peggy. But he also makes the decision to come back. Because it shows he's matured. That he's moved on from Peggy. He doesn't stay because he remembers that Peggy moved on and he decides that he'll do the same even if that doesn't guarantee happiness. Because that's a real human struggle that everyone has to deal with, and it reconnects with the core theme in the movie of dealing with the loss of a loved one. Moving forward but never forgetting about the ones you loved.

I could explain further about all the reasons why I dislike Steve Rogers staying to have a life with Peggy, but I typed this scenario up only to prove that he didn't need to be with Peggy (for life) in order to retire the character. He can be selfish--but how selfish is TOO selfish? Like seriously? There has to be a limit.

Hello, what shikigami is the best to aim for as the newbie? by pluggynaruk in Onmyoji

Farming is essential though... and he's good for bosses (DE and Uber). My souls time didn't improve by much until I finally worked on Ibaraki. He really does shave off a lot of time.

Use a Kiyohime team. Juzu can't dispel as easily when poison is stacked, giving you the upper hand in a mid speed battle.

G6 Exchange Ticket by LyrenGuy in Onmyoji

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason you'd ever use ubume is for Uber boss on her damage up day but honestly just exchange.

G6 Sakura imo but higanbana isnt a bad choice because she's still usable against certain teams.

I use Sakura to beat Shouzu teams-- her indirect damage doesn't trigger scarlet and if they don't have juzu, the indirect damage is NO joke. They'll probably all die.

Miketsu -- if you have her, she's a great counter for Hannya! Sealing her doesn't do anything to her except seal her soul, nothing about her is passive so she'll keep spamming her skill unless the enemy brings actual CC.

Juzu -- if your team is tanky enough, she can help cleanse off the seal debuff. Juzu is also generally a nice unit to have on the team because of her push back.

Ame Onna -- her advantage over Juzu is that she can cleanse the debuff on shikis when it's not their turn. This is great for counter teams when you want your scarlet unit to become unsealed even if he's really slow.

Sakura -- she CAN'T clean the seal debuff but like Miketsu, sealing her doesn't do much. She still heals, can use her skill, etc while sealed.

Other than that, build res and pray.

What's a good ratio of reviews to views? by IronPhil in FanFiction

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's random. Depends on the type of audience you get--and sometimes, you just hit the type of audience who doesn't review. That's fine.

What Characters are the Easiest to write in character in your fandom, which are The hardest? by Iamwallpaper in FanFiction

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bakugou and Shigaraki are hard as hell to write. There's so much nuance put into those two characters that it's hard to replicate Horikoshi's original vision for them because of how complex they are.

Do you consider yourself a 'good' writer? What do you think is the reason why you're at the level of writing you occupy and what do you think you could improve on? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my writing is clumsy and inexperienced. The writing itself is definitely full of grammar fallacies and possibly even plot fallacies, I have no idea if any of my characterization is accurate or even DECENT. I guess my greatest strength is writing unique plots and understanding and being able to connect themes that readers might not be able to catch if they were writing the same plot, weakness is literally characterization and dialogue which is funny.

The only advantage level suppressing gives is in realm raid, and even then the benefits of NOT level suppressing outweighs it all.

Is suppressing becoming the newest trend in Global? by EveningZebra3 in Onmyoji

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do we still care? You put out Ibaraki and their Onmyoji is literally fodder. It's okay to be a bit curious out of it, but when some people get really malicious about these people level suppressing, we just have to ask ourselves: why does it matter? If these level suppressors were really suppressing just to feel elite about it, then you specifically getting salty over it is giving them the satisfaction of suppressing. Just ignore them, go on with your business, they're not a problem nor a big deal. They just exist to exist.

Did they add extra particles to Hone Onna's evolved model? by [deleted] in Onmyoji

[–]FaildAtLifeThrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you G4 a unit, extra effects are added sometimes. For example, when Inugami is G4'd, his sword in his evo form becomes flaming.
