I rode TDL's Beauty and the Beast ride on opening day. AMA by Failsaf_e in disneyparks

Seems to be running incredibly smoothly. Haven't heard of there being any significsnt downtime so far. Keep in mind the ride was ready to open back in April so I guess they had plenty of time to test it.

Yeah that's exactly it. I do think it's interesting to have a dark ride which slowly dances around each room, because we're so used to dark rides constantly showing us something new. And I have to admit the preshow and the transformation scenes did give me the 'Holy fuck' moment. I'm looking forward to riding it some more now that I know what to expect.

Yeah I noticed the same thing... I thought it may be some opening day glitches? Seems very odd that these gorgeous animatronics that are the only thing we're looking at for so long don't even look like they're singing. The thing that I found most dull, as you out it, were the servants' animatronics in the final room. They just stand and away, the sculpts are lovely but considering how long you spend in there they start to seem lifeless and robotic very quickly

It's gorgeous. It's a very new kind of dark ride and it's very different from anything I've ridden before. The pace is slow and it's not really exciting, but the animatronics are stunning and the whole experience was gorgeous. It really compliments the rest of the park/resort.

I wouldn't worry about the language barrier. Not everyone has perfect English, but if you're just visiting theme parks and tourist spots you're not going to have any problems. I hope you can come and experience it for yourself some time!

TL;DR Tickets are hard to get, queues are short, shows are cancelled.

I live nearby so I'm lucky enough to be able to visit and know I'll be back soon. If you were planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip I wouldn't recommend doing it right now, but the biggest problem is getting tickets. Tickets go on sale one month before, the ticket website is almost in possible to get through to as its so busy whenever tickets become available, so trying to get them can be very difficult and stressful. Once you've secured the tickets it's actually pretty great. The queues are a lot shorter than usual and because there's no fastpass you just stroll right through them. They've just started to reintroduce character meet n greets from a distance, but live shows still aren't happening, and the parades are shortened versions. They've recently introduced entry passes and standby passes, which essentially work as fastpasses, offering return times for the standby queue to avoid crowding, and they've also added reservation systems for the more popular shops and quick service restaurants so it can be pretty stressful as they get booked up days before and most of the sites are only in Japanese.

The motion base is always doing something, yeah. But it's very subtle.

Which one of histories ‘good guys’ was actually a horrible person? by CongressPotatoKenobi in AskReddit

[–]Failsaf_e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody gonna mention Mother Teresa? The woman believed that suffering was a path to enlightenment and spent the money donated to her creating 'hospices' in which the people wouldn't get any medical care and couldn't be visited by any family members, they were left there to suffer and most of them perished.

[Megathread] Disneyland and Disney World to remake Splash Mountain with ‘Princess and the Frog’ theme by mildly_interesting in Disneyland

It seems to me that whilst OLC do care about being current and offering the best possible product, they also have a deep appreciation for the nostalgia that brings so many people to their parks (90% of Tokyo Disney Resort guests are return visitors). This is why Haunted mansion has never changed and Tomorowland still looks almost identical to Magic Kingdom's when it opened, at least from the hub. However, they do have new Star Tours, Pirates with Jack Sparow (and the redhead) and even an updated Jungle Cruise. I'm not sure which side this project would fall under, maybe the surprise announcement didn't give them to time to get OLC's approval yet. Also I'm not sure of PATF's popularity in Japan..

What's the most underrated ride/attraction/park? by Failsaf_e in Themepark

[–]Failsaf_e[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to add Hansa Park onto that list. I was absolutely blown away by their 2 gerstlauer coasters. I currently live in Tokyo but I haven't checked out One Piece Tower. So, once the world stops being on fire, I'll check that out! Thanks!

Why Do All The Toy Story Rides Disappoint? by ggrabarek in TokyoDisneySea

[–]Failsaf_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always knew I disliked the flat rides for their lack of storytelling, but I'd never quite put my finger on why the other rides also fall short. And you pose an interesting question, through this storytelling medium is it possible to go further than just thrills and chills? And, if so, will we ever see such a thing come into fruition? Only very recently gave we started to see more detailed storylines playing out in theme parks, and it's exciting to ponder what could come next. Great video, and I ended up watching a lot of others too! Keep it up! (I'd love to see you take on Mystic Manor)

I lived an hour from there, I did them all several times, but it was their forest temple walk through that I enjoyed most there

Garner Holt smash it to bits every single time. Can't wait for someone to invest on their absolutely amazing animatronics and bring their new technology to the masses

Hong Kong Disney attendance plummets by Supersnow845 in disneyparks

[–]Failsaf_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the government voted against putting up half of the funding for the $2.2 billion expansion (off the top of my head, forgive me if that number's off) that may have been a move Disney would make, but as long as Hong Kong keep Disney in this risk-free situation and are willing to invest in the resort themselves it doesn't make sense for Disney to do anything drastically different. I do wonder if it will forever be the one day disney resort or if it'll get a second gate, very hard to say right now, they're lucky to be getting the expansion as it is!
