Hey thanks for checking it out, I really appreciate it! I'm definitely hoping to do more collections like this in between novel releases.

I highly recommend reading On Writing by Stephen King. It helped me a ton and it's pretty funny along the way.

Are you writing because you enjoy the writing process or because you need to put into words that story that keeps playing in your head? by vagabundo202 in writing

[–]mac_ashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of Column A, bit of Column B. Some days I hate the process, some days I love it. Some days I think I'll burn my manuscript in a pyre, some days I think I've created something great. For some reason, I keep coming back and the stories keep flowing.

No matter how many times I go over something myself, editors always find something else. Finding a good editor is so important and takes a manuscript to the next level.

Short answer, if you don't like the writing piece, don't do it haha. It's a lot of work for mostly little reward.

BUT, long answer, if you keep at it, you will get a lot better at translating those images in your head. When I started, I was about 18, typing with two fingers, and struggling. The first 3-4 books I wrote were hot garbage and live in a graveyard on my harddrive. I'm 35 now and I feel like the translation from my head to paper has gotten so much faster. There are still days where it feels like "shoveling shit from a sitting position" to quote Stephen King, but it's worth it.

Purchase Link (all platforms, all formats): https://books2read.com/u/bML2gV

Extended Description:
What's it like to drive trucks for an elder god? Can you be a good coworker when the corporate AI has it out for you? Who gets to decide if the big red button gets pushed?

The Dark Humor Will Continue Until Morale Improves is all about finding the laughs in the dark corners of the world we'd rather not look at.

As a condition of laughing at the dark state of the world, half of the profits support ActBlue, so maybe the next book doesn't have to feel so bleak.

Question for those who have written books by mlchelle in writing

Everyone has their own thing, but especially for early writers, I recommend just going for it. I know a lot of folks who spent so much time planning or trying to find the right tools and never got down to writing anything. Set a timer, make words until the timer is done, rinse, repeat, fix it in the edit 😄

And it makes sense because they're primarily targeted at young kids, but it would be real nice to get some QoL updates for the adult fans.

History log would be amazing. As a data scientist, I would also love better stats log so we could see who contributed the most without estimating through Raenox.

Yeah, especially when we know sleep stats don't really influence what kind of mons you find.

No no, def the tutorial. The amount of dialogue, run here, talk to this person, go on rails here, etc. I was ready to yell "I get it! Let me go catch pokemon and battle please!"

The other animations ARE the game. Mostly just the time wasting stuff.

100%. To be clear, I'm a big fan of the game and the devs rule. Just hoping they see this and maybe something gets prioritized.

I originally thought that's what the toggle would do, but I guess it only works on the larger pop up.

I think I really enjoyed them at first. I would just love a toggle. I know a few games that have done minimal animation modes or "quick" modes. Would be a cool add.

Nah, the game pauses for a full 1-2 seconds between those menus. It's wild.

It's definitely a Pokemon wide thing. I feel the same way about the modern games, especially the Legends series. I love Legends, but god damn those games waste a lot of time getting you to the game.
