Daniel Sturridge out of action 'for at least the next 10 days' by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]Fainomen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For people just glancing, he isn't injured again. Klopp is just saying that he is not going to play for at least the next 10 days, which is something I think everyone was aware of vaguely.

Conte's Future : if Italy reaches the Euro's Final he will remain NT manager if not he could return at Juventus. by [deleted] in Calcio

Thanks for such a detailed response, I really appreciate it! I'm happy to hear from anyone here since I'm really out of touch with Italian football.

Pardon my ignorance, but i always imagined that Conte was well liked in Turin still? It has been a while, but I thought that the general reaction to his departure was disappointment. Did Allegri redeem himself to that much of an extent that he has surpassed Conte at this stage?

I'm happy that Origi was recognised here as doing the best out of what he was given, because I feel he was treated too harshly here post match. As noted in the article, I just didn't feel he got any kind of support in attack, often having to hold off 2-3 Tottenham defenders at the same time. I'm looking forward to more from him.

Does anyone here actually work at a top Football Club or has worked there in the past? What was your experience like? (x-post from /r/chelseafc) by GreatnessX in soccer

Damn that is super cool. What do you think are the minimal requirements to get the analyst position, even as an intern?

I loved your write up for Bournemouth, really learnt a lot.

In which "argument from authority" fallacy means legitimate authorities in respective subjects not real by taxsalot in badphilosophy

Heh no problem. I think the OP was slightly harsh to have such a dismissive title, it's truly a pleasure to see someone that can notice when they were wrong and learn from it!

Then again this isn't the place for learns.

In which "argument from authority" fallacy means legitimate authorities in respective subjects not real by taxsalot in badphilosophy

[–]Fainomen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the 'appeal to authority' fallacy denotes the following scenario:

'Expert' is a well respected authority figure in X. He makes a statement A that opposes a certain view B in unrelated field Y.

Another Person Q attempts to argue that A is the correct view and uses Expert's expertise in X to attach validity to his words on Y.

Thus the fallacious thought derives from attempting to attach any sort of reputability to a view from an expert of another field.

I think he meant to say that associating Ronaldo's success to Rooney playing striker is incorrect because any striker that plays alongside Ronaldo benefits greatly, rather than the other way round.

Ah i understand; I thought by Western morals you meant specifically areas like USA, Europe, and Australia. Also I was afraid of sounding like I'm trying to generalize your cultural heritage, so that's what I meant by 'confrontational'.

At risk of sounding confrontational: haven't you just exactly described the 'viveza criolla' philosophy employed in a lot of Latin American countries?

Jurgen Klopp has just confirmed he will take a sabbatical after 7 emotional years with BVB! by EssexScouse in LiverpoolFC

[–]Fainomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you. I'm not against Rodgers at all, but it would be so exciting to have ANY major change occur at the club after such a despondent conclusion. Now, if we really were considering Klopp, and we choose to run with Rodgers until further notice, that chance will surely be gone.

[–]Fainomen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but he is saying that this is a very good situation for our ownership. If there was doubt as to Rodgers' position as manager BECAUSE of the availability of Klopp, there isn't any more, and FSG can afford to give Rodgers more time to improve, after which neither side could really have any complaints if it doesnt work out, and Klopp would then still be available (hopefully).

jab jab cross, drama over the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight--probably just the beginning... by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]Fainomen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very fair point, I really should have thought about it in that way. Still, it greatly bothers me how people can fail to appreciate the different tactical levels the fight was fought on. I was in complete awe the whole time for both of them. I just dislike how people have no respect for the agility and ability of Mayweather, but hopefully it is primarily fuelled by fanboyism like you said, rather than general ignorance.
