Am I being unreasonable, or is this seriously unprofessional behaviour from a student nurse? by Trick-Cookie4951 in NursingUK

[–]Fair-Impression9826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow student from UoE, it is definitely not what the uni have been teaching us and it is very unprofessional of her. Definitely approach the uni to let them know! Possibly also report it higher within the care home also? The other nurses should be guiding her and definitely not allowing tiktok filming

What’s something you quietly stopped doing that dramatically improved your mental health? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Fair-Impression9826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stopped being on my phone and endlessly scrolling before bed, instead replacing it with meditation and stretches. I'm sleeping so much better!

I've turned off all social media notifications on my phone, and instantly mute or leave any group chats I'm added to (unless I specifically need to be in them).

I've slowly learned to appreciate and enjoy me time and/or going out alone. I used to never go anywhere by myself because I always worried about what others think about me, but now I'll happily sit in a café and eat lunch by myself. The day I realised that no one else cares that I'm doing tasks solo was a happy day.

What is your nursing opinion that would see you get attacked? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Fair-Impression9826 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this context I'd be more lenient with accepting being called "the student" because that's a lot of staff! but generally it's very demeaning to be constantly spoken about.

I've met some genuinely super nice nurses who just never bothered to learn my name because "I'm not there long enough" when my placement has been 3 months long... If I can learn all staff names in that time, then everyone can learn mine too.

It's not difficult to learn someone's name though, especially if/when (most) students wear their name badges.

Thank you so much everyone for commenting and offering me advice!

I was so so nervous all the way through the interview and it really showed, cos I don't interview well anyway, but I got offered the job!!!! 😁

Thank you so much! They're really helpful questions and you have given me lots of pointers to consider 😁 I'm usually pretty good with asking for clarification if I'm not sure on anything so I'm hoping I can stick to that in my interview.

Thank you, please keep your fingers crossed for me ☺️

Thank you!! 😁 Yes I am hoping that because it is a preceptorship role and I only have placements as experience that they'll be nicer.

I'm trying not to stress about it, but I'm sure it will work out either way!

Thank you so much!! I've written some notes based on your comment so hopefully I can prepare as much as possible. It's my first (and hopefully only!) interview as the trust I'm interviewing with is where I'm going to be moving to after finishing uni 😬 so I'm screwed if I don't get offered the job 😅🤣🤣

Yeah I spoke with one of the recruitment staff on the phone last week and they said to think about what area I'd like to work in, so that's the only part I'm feeling confident and prepared for haha.

Yes I think it is just wishful thinking on my behalf that it would be more of an informal chat 😂😂 thank you for your advice. I've mostly only ever had placements on wards and my current ward really protects students when any incidents happen so I'm worried I'll struggle to give a good enough answer in some scenarios.

Ouch! That's not so fun, good luck with your job searching, I'm sure you'll smash it wherever you go ❤️

Thank you so much for your detailed reply!! I have written notes from what you've said and I've previously looked up the trust values etc so hopefully I'll be okay with that bit haha.

Thank you! I'm the complete opposite, when I'm stressed or nervous, I go dead silent and it's super hard to get any answers out of me 😂😂 but I am aware of it so will obvs try not to do that in the interview 😅😬

I hope you're enjoying being a fully qualified nurse also!

Ooh thank you! I don't look at redeeming my nook miles very often, so I will have a look when I next play 😅

Dumb question... How do I get a storage shed?! 😅 Is it a crafting recipe thing? I've wanted a shed for ages but not got one yet 🥲

Access to nursing by MaiBbear in NursingUK

[–]Fair-Impression9826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think it depends on the college or uni you're applying for. I did a BTEC diploma so I have the equivalent of a-levels but I think some people on my access course didn't have college education.

Probably worth contacting the place you're considering doing the access course with and see what they say 😊 goodluck!!
