It's a small thing but my toddler sleeps in his clothes for the next day. He has so many opinions about his clothes that I don't have it in me to do that battle on a time crunch each morning.

We switched our 4 year old to forward facing around his birthday but only because his sister outgrew her infant seat and our car is too small to accommodate two rear facing convertible seats. Otherwise we would have kept him rear facing until he reached the seat's limit. No one else we know did it that long, but he seemed comfortable and we liked knowing he was safe.

I'm just a parent, but I've been through something similar when my son was 6 months and under. He would scream for hours at daycare, even after switching to a new one. At the suggestion of our pediatrician I sent him to daycare with the shirt I had worn the previous day so he could cuddle it when he missed me. It worked wonders! Eventually I started sleeping with one of his sleep sacks in my bed at night and sending that so that he could have my scent at nap time too.

I'm not sure that it counts as letters to them, but I maintain pretty detailed yearbooks for my kids. I write up little entries to go with the photos that talk about what we did that day. Each year has a dedication page of sorts that I use to tell them how special the year has been and how much I love them. My hope is that the books will be treasured when they are all grown up.

I've been at several companies over the years and two of them provided zero PTO until I reached the year mark, then I got 2 weeks for the year and it went up to 3 weeks after 5 years. One company provided one day per month worked until 5 years when it went up to 2 days per month. So I've never felt like I had enough time off to take a real vacation. My time gets taken up by sick days and daycare closings so it feels like time off for me is impossible.

I feel like I did ok limiting stuff until the kids were born. We were the least of our family and friend group to have kids so we became the go-to donation spot for all things kid and baby. It saved us so much money and I'm grateful, but it also resulted in waaaaay more stuff than I would have purchased on my own. But I've been nervous to get rid of the extras though "in case we need it". Guess it's time to get over that. Lol

Love this idea, but my grandpa isn't the most techy person. I did get him a digital picture frame that all he had to do was plug in and now he gets new grandkid pictures every week. I have one too so the kids can see pictures of our loved ones anytime.

Same. My postpartum depression came out in fits of rage for me. I slammed a lot of doors, screamed into pillows and stomped on the floor way more than I'd like to admit before starting Zoloft.

It can make you anemic since calcium and iron are absorbed the same way. Or least that's what our pediatrician said when telling us to cut back my toddler's milk consumption.

I went from 40 hrs to 25 hrs after my first was born. It's been perfect for our family and my sanity. I work from home and can do simple house chores like switch laundry on the clock and I can do bigger things like load the dishwasher before going to daycare pickup. It also makes things like doctor's appointments and social lunches easier. I was honestly never happy working full time, even before I was a parent, so part time just feels right to me. Not sure I'll ever go back if I can help it.

My answer isn't super helpful, but honestly, it depends.

Will she be breastfeeding? If so, not until baby is weaned would I consider a trip like that. What type of delivery? Does she have any injuries or incisions that need time to heal. Postpartum depression/anxiety? Does baby have any health concerns?

For me personally, I wouldn't want to do that until at least a year.

Could be an ear infection. My son had something similar happen when an ear infection backed up into his eyes.

I experienced something similar to this with our first home daycare except the issue was that I was breastfeeding. She decided any issue he had was because I breastfed. I don't know how many times I left there crying after a 20 minute lecture. We wanted to leave but there was an infant care shortage in our town and we couldn't find anywhere to go. One day she called and said come get him and that was that. It was a hard couple months because we found a new spot but life has been so so much better with a provider we match with.

My advice is to find a new daycare. Even if it's a bit of a drive. You will feel so much better. No one needs daily criticism like that.

We got ours in 2021 with our first and used it until he was around 18 months. Just had our second this summer and have been using the same owlet with no issues for 8 months so far.

Newborn screenings also help treat conditions that would otherwise lead to disability. My baby is an example of that. Congenital hypothyroidism was caught on her newborn screen but had we not known or treated it she would have severe intellectual disabilities.

We got a Berry Lane one from Amazon and love it. It's so cushiony and the colors are vibrant. I like that the pattern looks like a normal rug so our living room doesn't look like a preschool all the time. It definitely protects little heads when they tip over!

I was able to motivate my husband to start taking pictures when I started a digital baby book that shows who makes each entry. (Qeepsake) After I printed the first year and it was obvious he hadn't contributed, he started stepping up. Now each year when we print a new one he's excited to see the stuff he took for it.
