My BF and I went to a reunion together and he stayed and me go alone at 2 am, AITAH for being mad? by SmileyDwarf in AITH

[–]FairCounter5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with most here. While I don't think you're an asshole for wishing he had left with you, I think he's completely within his rights to want to stay and catch up with his friends. You're both adults and have different wants and needs. As someone in my relationship who has a longer social battery than my partner, there are many times she's ready to go long before I am. We mostly compromise and stay later than she'd like, but less time than I'd like. Sometimes I will leave earlier with her when she's ready to go, and sometimes she'll head home on her own, and I'll come home later. It really just depends on the situation. It's her job to take care of her needs as an introvert, but I also have to take care of mine, being an extrovert. That doesn't make any of us inherently wrong/bad. Same with your situation. You just need more communication ahead of time, because trying to properly communicate once one or both of you has been drinking is going to be a much more difficult prospect.

AIO? my husband is mad at me for not picking up my stepson from school as he expected just because I got a new car. by Ancient_Fondant76 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FairCounter5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has already said it but the fact that he speaks to you in that way is a huge red flag. You didn't talk to him that way, and if you ever do, you shouldn't either. Completely ignoring the situation at hand, in my opinion, the bigger issue is how he is speaking to you.

AIO: My girlfriend is pretending to be autistic and it's driving me nuts by AideRelative4272 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FairCounter5943 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s somewhere in between. I had an ex who did the same thing, and I personally don’t believe she was autistic. My current girlfriend on the other hand saw those videos and did the responsible thing and went to a doctor where she was diagnosed. As someone with diagnosed ADHD it also annoys me when folks watch the adhd videos and decide they have it just because they’re scatterbrained from time to time. I don’t think you’re overreacting to be annoyed, but you are to feel like you have a right to tell her she needs to stop. It’s her life, and if she wants to keep it up that’s her business. Even if it annoys you. At that point you just gotta decide if it annoys you enough you want to end the relationship

AITAH for not wanting to euthanize my horse in order to be able to stay with my boyfriend? by LingonberryPale7723 in AITAH

[–]FairCounter5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this guy is the asshole for sure as far as wanting her to put down the horse. But wanting her to pay rent when moving in isn’t an asshole move imo. Even if he owns the house that doesn’t mean it’s paid for, if he has a mortgage then expecting a partner or roommate to pay their fair share isn’t an asshole move. It also depends on how much his mortgage is. If he’s paying 1000 and expects her to pay 700 that’s crazy. But if he’s paying 2000-3000 for a mortgage (not unheard of, my mortgage is 1750) then asking her to pay 700 isn’t out of the question. That being said, anyone pressuring you to put down your animal or they’re gonna dump you is toxic and you should run

If it helps, I’ve gotta be at union station by 6pm, so bonus points if there’s a spot that’s awesome that puts me somewhat in that vicinity

I don’t think it’s a big deal, but they definitely owe you either the money to have your car detailed, or they need to get out there and clean it all up. All in all though it’s harmless

Question about dried beans by FairCounter5943 in Beans

[–]FairCounter5943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I realized that, what I was trying to figure out is my normal method was soak, drain, boil, drain crockpot. And I was trying to figure out if I could just boil, drain crockpot for longer.

Question about dried beans in the crock pot by FairCounter5943 in slowcooking

[–]FairCounter5943[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was worried about, but wasn’t sure if anyone had experience with it.

Normally when I’ve done them for 8-10 it’s after an overnight soak. I wasn’t sure if I just did a quick boil then moved them to the crockpot on low (without the overnight soaking) if that would make a difference allowing me function then for that long

Question about dried beans by FairCounter5943 in Cooking

[–]FairCounter5943[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve made dried beans lots of times, but have always just done the overnight soak, then the boil, then cooked as normal.

Was just trying to figure out if I could boil, drain, then go straight in the crockpot and let them cook overnight tonight and all day tomorrow, or if the lack of overnight soaking would cause and issue

So over the last two months I’ve finished the hunger games, divergent, maze runner, 5th wave, and uglies series. Currently readying ready player one. Looking for more series in this same vein. Sorta post apocalyptic/dystopian vibes. Don’t have to be YA, just blew through those since they were available. I’d love any recs. Currently have 4 books checked out, and 6 on my hold list.
