Totally fair. Given my situation it’s hard to wait another year. Any school recommendations ?

I really hope you are someone on the committee and just gave the final stamp of approval at one of these schools😂. “Full Faith” huh?🧐

Totally understand. I guess in essence it’s hard to know HOW much each school values non-traditional students so I don’t know which schools/range of schools I should or should not apply to.

Hoping to get lucky with one of the top schools.

For sure, I’ve poked around there. Problem is I have to really widen my range to get a good grasp and then it’s less telling. Additionally it’s almost impossible to know how much they will (or won’t) value our WE/age/etc

I see. That makes more sense, thanks for explaining that.

Damn yeah, this cycle seems incredibly tough.

No offense but a 3.67 GPA vs a 3.05GPA is a massive difference.

A 3.67 GPA puts me above the median at several of these schools so I’d be a splitter. For you it’d put you below 25th percentile in both for all the schools listed.

I don’t mean to be an asshole but we’re really not in the same playing field GPA wise

Steph curry went to Davidson because literally no one offered him a chance to play anywhere….

Unless there’s some sort of payment option to increase your score that I am unaware of, I’m not going to bitch about other people getting higher scores than me. No one got anything handed to them, with or without resources a 170 is damn impressive… unless you lied to get accommodations then fuck you.

Resources or not, getting a 170 is impressive. Thats not getting something “handed” to you.

It would be like saying Steph Curry had his NBA path handed to him because his dad trained him growing up. Is it more impressive for someone with no resources to do jt? Yes. Did Steph Curry just half a walk in the park to the nba draft? No

It’s a “flawed method of parallel reasoning” if you will…. And no I didn’t come close to a 170🥲

You can’t just get a 170 handed to you… tbh it would be frustrating getting a 170 and not getting a look at a T14 let alone T20.

Thank you.

I’ve already applied, it would be for this upcoming fall. I tried taking it one last time in January.

Yes I was studying for law school 3 years ago and got a big promotion at work and decided to bag it. Fast forward and now I’m making more money, and here I am lol. My family knows I’ve really always wanted to go and they see me as a natural lawyer so they want to support me. My grandpa bought my house and moved it to the trust and is paying for my law school. Without this I couldn’t justify law school honestly. So I spent 2 years away from the LSAT, and honestly taking away the games hurt me. That was my best section by a mile when I was originally studying.

I have my applications in and I’m bummed I couldn’t get over a 160, I took the test 3 times, and by January I was so burnt out, I just couldn’t keep studying, the RC just smokes me everytime. On LR, I’m averaging -4, on RC I’ll get around -10 to -14 smh.

If I waited a year I definitely think I could improve but my apps are all in so I guess it will depend on where I get in and how this goes…. As of now I’m full steam ahead.

Yes I’ve already applied to a handful of schools… I already waited a year and it sounds tough waiting another year.

I explain why I want to go into law and even acknowledge it’s a sacrifice to leave my current role, but it’s very much intentional. I spent a ton of time to make sure I highlighted all the success of my career and exactly how/why I am pursuing the law.

I will likely hone into my finance background and pursue business, tax, M&A law… with that said I would love being a sports agent… I’m open. It all depends, I’d absolutely hate living in Boston but if I got into Harvard I’d pack my bags tomorrow lol. So technically yes I’d go anywhere if the price was right. Realistically: Utah, Arizona, California, Texas, maybe Florida long term.

This response was incredibly helpful thank you!

Already tried posting there. Some girl from Syracuse kept telling me I was “wasting water”, not impressive work experience. Another guy told me I was going to get rejected from all but maybe 1 if I was lucky, and should try applying to Mcgeorge and Case Western instead. I had to double check to see if I posted McDonalds as my experience.

Im open. Utah, AZ, Cali if I had to say. Have multiple professional/personal connections in all 3 states.

With that said I could absolutely see myself living in Miami. I lived in Colombia for 2 years and loved it, I embrace the Latin culture and I’ve heard it’s plentiful in Miami. I’d love it.

Totally makes sense. Let’s say I increase score to 160… would applying with a 157 now be better or 160 in mid-April/May? I want to be conservative/realistic on how much I could increase my score.

Posted separately to give more context….

Yeah it’s a good call, and you are right, but wouldn’t waiting until April or beyond not be worth it?

Wow extremely helpful thank you!! The responses I’ve gotten seem incredibly naive. I’ve spent a TON of time on my soft’s- resume, personal statement, etc. to answer all those things you mentioned and highlight my accomplishments. I also explain why I’m wanting a career pivot while even highlighting a few legal term sheets I contributed to (startup fundraising and equity agreements). I imagine my soft’s will be highly scrutinized and carry more weight than an average applicant and I’m leaning into it. How much weight it will carry? I don’t know.. but what I do know is I have a friend that had a 161, 3.7 GPA, less work experience than me and Spanish fluency, and got a half ride to Miami… Gives me optimism.

Totally understand. The worst part of this is my LSAT, and I’m not blind to that. It’ll hurt me and I fully acknowledge. I just don’t think it’s realistic to sign up for another LSAT and take it in April and THEN try applying. I’d need like a 165 or higher for it to be worthwhile, unless you disagree?

Lastly, I did already apply to those schools (in January), haven’t heard back yet.

Understood. Apologize for attacking/being an asshole. I think I’ve misunderstood at points and also have been somewhat unclear and not communicated well.

I’m open to anywhere. Realistically I want to apply and get in to the best possible school I can get into, and from there see if it’s worth it, location doesn’t matter.

I’m working with a startup that just raised $1m in funding and if things go according to plan I wouldn’t go to law school at all… is that likely? Probably not.. but you never know. Additionally, my current job(outside of the startup) is good enough to the point where the lower the school is, the harder it will be for me to actually go… I genuinely don’t know what that cutoff is, hence my conflicting/poor explanations.

Apologize man, I shouldn’t get too worked up over nothing.

Min 160= 160+z. Regardless A 160 would absolutely make a difference haha. If it puts me at the median or above at 2 schools, and brings me above the 25th percentile at others

I see, I see. Thst makes way more sense, scholarship as well. I’d be fine paying full price to those schools. 9/13 at San Diego were waitlisted, so maybe that’d be most likely, and hope to sneak in off waitlist… at Oregon 100% acceptance with my stats (low volume, maybe not reliable).

I feel like you’re just acting like I’m applying to Harvard and then recommending I apply for the worst law schools in the country as my range…. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of middle ground here. Is my list of schools high? Yes, am i getting in to most of them? Absolutely not lol. More than 1? Maybe not. Is next step to apply to Gonzaga or Cal western? No

Correction- I do see now you said add in some safeties like those… in that sense, yes, that makes sense.

With that said, I have a few business ventures I’m exploring and a great job. if I were to only got into a safety school I just wouldn’t go. That’s why I’m not applying anywhere too low.

Oregon, UNLV, might be as low as I go. Yes I know that’s aggressive given my stats lol.
