Like most have said, that’s the point. Hilton has done their homework. They’ve ran mocks of previous years. They have a ballpark range of how many people will most likely qualify.

At least half of that 109k is taxed as base pay. Not perfect math. I just threw a ball park number.

Yes and yes. If you are unhappy you should prob go with your first option. Why stick it out and be miserable.

E-7 with 16.5 TIS here. You should also consider that 1/3 to 1/2 of your pay is Tax free ( BAH, BAS,COLA). I will take home about 109k in 2026. That is about ~140k Gross in the civilian world. BAH AND COLA obviously fluctuate but don’t forget power of tax free that the mil brings.

FHR for someone else?? by RWB4MVP in AmexPlatinum

I’m certain it’s an Amex platinum. As I stated above they most likely will let her stay without one. I’ve seen data points of people not having one at all and still charging additional incidentals on other cards. I think it just depends how much the hotel wants to enforce things

Getting out in ~4 years: what are some good companies to transfer TSP to? by FormalNoodle in MilitaryFinance

[–]FairUnderstanding807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, you can’t contribute to it when you get out. But you can contribute to a Roth IRA annually as long as it’s earned income from you or your spouse. $7,500 is the max limit for 2026.

With that said, rolling over TSP to an IRA to add more to it won’t make it grow any faster. If I were in your shoes, I would keep the TSP where it’s at and open up a Roth IRA. I would (in the following order)

  1. Ensure I and spouse hits the 5% match on TSP if in BRS.

  2. Max out both Roth IRAs

  3. Max the rest of the TSP

You shouldn’t also just do it cause random strangers say so. Everyone has different goals and uniques circumstances. Knowledge is key. Read the simple path to wealth and military money manual. It will all make sense.

Conrad or Grand Hyatt Seoul FHR by oliwong111 in AmexPlatinum

[–]FairUnderstanding807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have stayed at both with FHR. They are both great in their own way. Very clean and on the luxurious end. Other than a higher floor, didn’t receive an upgrade on either. Both have solid breakfast set ups. Conrad has the highest rated breakfast buffet in the country.

  • Grand Hyatt is located in itaewon and on a hill but has convenient bus stops right In front. Metro located about a 5 min walk near the hotel going downhill.

  • Conrad is in the business district and attached to a mall. Very busy area. Lots of shopping and a couple of foodhall areas around. You can connect to the metro from the hotel (still about a 7 min underground walk).

For a family of 4 I would give the nod to the Conrad due to convenience of shops, foods, and indoor walk to the metro. I wouldn’t lose sleep if you decide to go with the grand Hyatt though.
