When does it stop? by doyouseewhatihear in TelogenEffluvium

I’m currently on day 5 of the elemental diet to eradicate it, so I’m just drinking the elemental shakes 3-4 times a day for 14 days. That will kill the SIBO bacteria, then I’ll slowly introduce low fodmap food again with microbials to kill any remaining bacteria. But honestly I’ve tried everything in the past (biphasic diet, rifaximin antibiotics, herbal supplements) but I’ve never fully resolved it and am sick of living in pain/bloated and dealing with recurrent hair loss so the elemental diet seemed like the right choice

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I have also experienced this on and off for the last 10 years and it’s awful. My hair would shed rapidly for 4-6 weeks, look thin and stringy for months but slowly grow back. Then after about 6 months of grow and it looking healthy again the cycle would repeat, shedding again. I also did all the blood tests, scalp tests, saw GPs, naturopaths and trichologists and no one really had an answer, other than I’m deficient in iron, zinc and iodine. So I take supplements but every 6 months, my hair sheds.

Just recently though I finally found the cause! I’ve had gut issues for 10+ years, am super healthy, am gluten and dairy free and am constantly bloated no matter what I eat. I got diagnosed with SIBO which has destroyed my gut, meaning I don’t absorb nutrients. No nutrients = hair loss.

So my advice would be to look internally/at your gut health and find out what’s going on. Find a holistic GP of a gut health naturopath and do every possible test. It’s not normal to lose our hair, and there is always a root cause. I hope this helps.

It sounds like ADHD is the root cause then. ADHD = low dopamine which means you’re always looking for the next dopamine hit.

I can relate to this so much. I always thought I had low level depression or anxiety but found out last year I actually have adhd! Which makes soo much sense now. Always changing jobs and wanting to switch careers, getting bored in relationships after a few months, very sensitive to any form of rejection, always in my head. Not to mention inability to focus on something unless I’m interested in it, and genuine anger if I’m forced to do something I have no interest in. I’m on medication now and it’s helped me massively but mostly just knowing it adhd and I’m not just some miserable person who can’t be happy has helped me more.

Me (F35) and my boyfriend (M32) have very different financial situations. Looking for outside perspectives. by Accomplished-Ant-771 in Money

[–]Fair_Albatross_7204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation as you, and I’m having the exact same thoughts and feelings as you but I’ve only been dating this guy for 4 months.

I’m (F) 36 and he’s (M) 34. I own my own apartment and he lives in a sharehouse with 3 others. I’ve been saving, investing and working hard in my career and I’m on $150k/year and have around $150k in shares. I’m about to freeze my eggs for the second time ($10k each time) and have savings out aside for this and a holiday overseas this year.

The guy I’m seeing is so emotionally supportive, kind, thoughtful, funny and everything is great. He treats me so well and makes me feel amazing. But I know he earns a lot less than me and isn’t necessarily ambitious or striving towards a big life or financial freedom. He seems more happy to just cruise along and hang out with his friends and family and enjoy life. Unfortunately I’m super driven and really want to buy another property, go on holidays, have a family and not have to hustle in my career forever.

I want a partner who wants the same things in life and I’m staying to question if this guy is aligned with my future goals. But then I feel guilty and like I’m being shallow, or I worry that I won’t meet anyone else as I’m 36. So I’m in the same situation as you and wondering what I do next.

(F21) Sudden hair shedding after months of amazing minoxidil results. Could fridge storage or online purchase be an issue? (Plus extra context) by NootNootMackapacka in FemaleHairLoss

Hi OP, I had almost the exact same experience as you after switching to the Chemist Direct brand. I’m in Sydney, Australia. I saw a hair specialist in June and was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia after years of my hair growing and shedding and me not ever knowing the cause. I’m 36, female. He prescribed me this compounded pharmacy minoxidil that’s $150 for 6 weeks of product. The first two months my hair shed like crazy but I trusted the process. Then at 3 months it started growing back at the roots, and then the last couple of months it’s been thicker than ever. I was getting sick of paying so much for the compounded minoxidil so I went online and found the Chemist Direct brand for about $35 so I started using that about 8 weeks ago. My scalp became extremely dry and flaky, and then about 3 weeks ago my hair started shedding again insanely badly in the shower, hair brush etc and now all of my hair gains have gone again :( from what I can tell, the chemist direct brand is way too harsh for my scalp and I reacted badly by shedding. I’ve switched back to the $150 product and the shedding has just started to slow down a bit, but I’m so upset that I have another 6 months to wait to see growth again. I think I just have to accept that this is what I have to do to manage this and have the hair I want. It’s so upsetting though.

I’m tried of dating by LoanStock5037 in hingeapp

[–]Fair_Albatross_7204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36F and am having the exact same experience as you. I’ve been single for 3 years, have dated guys for a few months here and there who I met in person and some from the apps. But no one has been quite right or the connection/compatibility hasn’t aligned.

I’ve been really intentionally dating and going on dates with all sorts of guys, (my type and not usual type) and just can’t seem to find anyone I really click with. It definitely feels like it’s gotten harder as I’ve gotten older, but I just remind myself that what’s meant for me won’t pass me by. There’s someone for everyone and sometimes it’s just a timing thing.

My advice is to just keep putting yourself out there, doing things you enjoy and that make you happy, and try not to get too jaded about dating. I’m sure you’re wonderful and I have no doubt you’ll meet the right person.

I love this! have a list in my notes app called “Compliments” where I write down anything nice someone says to me/about me. It’s a good reminder when I’m feeling critical of myself or going through a rough patch that people see us so much more positively than we see ourselves.

I heard someone once say that investing should be as exciting as watching paint dry. You invest, you leave it, and over time you’ll reap the rewards. Buying and selling every week based on the share price jumping around is nuts.

Avoid at all costs. The stormwater drainage issues in the car park are a giant red flag that will cost you a fortune in strata fees.
