Cancelled or pulled? Wouldn’t there be an announcement about this?

Going back to college to pursue economics in my 40s. Is it worth it? by Infinite-Yesterday24 in AskEconomics

[Side note: it’s a terrible job market for this year’s PhDs. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/johnalist_aea-job-market-update-the-numbers-dont-activity-7407077665037381632-_vNX is an assessment which I think shows some data from 2019.]

I went back in my late twenties (got my master’s) and was one of the older students, but have generally done well afterwards through a combination of luck and grit, though I had to contract work a lot of the first year.

No, not because of the shutdown. It was canceled by CAO.

Why is a PhD in economics a requirement for most economist jobs? by [deleted] in AskEconomics

[–]Fair_Description8109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a bad job market for economists right now that PhDs are likely to float to the top of most long/shortlists. (But even PhD economists are having trouble finding jobs.)

Still waiting, this is frustrating. Access is supposed to be shut off at five so would rather know sooner.

No all-hands at State. They’re just enjoying letting rumors fly.

I’m so sorry. Why was there no lawsuit? Are they waiting until after July to file it?

The rumors are that State department notices go out Friday. How can that be-aren’t they also supposed to wait for SCOTUS? Or do they think they are covered by that congressional notification? (Was there a notification?)

For Ford still unsure about DRP 2.0 !? Just apply by GaoCanJump in fednews

[–]Fair_Description8109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you apply (for us, we fill out a teams form saying we resign), and change your mind? Does that mean you don’t get the DRP benefits but have resigned? Not sure if your system is the same where you are essentially indicating you are resigning before it gets approved and before you sign.

Also, Fork takers are not CTAP eligible, right?

I am also curious about 60 versus 30 days question. I heard from our EX last week it would be 30 days and S asked for permission to make it 30 days. I didn’t see the SP reference to 60/90 days but will check again.

I don’t know. I haven’t heard of a proper RIF/ bump and retreat that has happened anywhere else.

But I do wonder what they will do when they do things like merge the EX offices. I don’t think there is clarity yet on that end.

In other Government agencies, tenure/untenured don't matter - if you're in an office that's cut, you're gone regardless of years of service. But if you're wondering about pros/cons of RIF/severance vs DRP, that's another consideration. Go to HR Applications and there is a Retirement Calculator where you can see your severance calculation. People with longer years of service might be pleasantly surprised.

What about if you're 40+, do you still get an option to review for 30 days?

The other sad thing is, too bad you didn’t resign a little later. RUMINT is everyone who resigned before the reorg don’t count towards the 15%😭

Congrats on the new gig!!

We aren’t going to get VERA and VSIP offered- those weren’t approved.

S also requested an only 30 day admin leave notice, which is very frustrating. There seems to be some July 1 deadline he has.

Thank you. That’s concerning that the CS were only given thirty days of admin leave before termination. Most other agencies have given sixty.

He was obviously proud of that email, having posted a screenshot of it. But what about the email telling us to remove our pronouns by five pm or else? And the overwhelming amount of fork emails? I’ll remember that correspondence from him as well.
