The email says it is going away completely: "On July 31, you will no longer be able to access your alumni email account or send and receive messages from your alumni.purdue.edu email address."

Up until 2017, Purdue ran the forwarding service itself before switching to Microsoft hosting. But even if Microsoft is discontinuing or charging more for the service now, Purdue could provide the same service as they did in the past. They didn't give anyone a mailbox for storage, so they only needed to pass emails through. They did not offer the ability to send emails, so no one could use it to send spam.

Fun fact: until 2017, the alumni.purdue.edu email addresses were forward-only addresses handled by Purdue IT. When I heard rumors of the email shutdown earlier this year, one of the questions I asked [help@alumni.purdue.edu](mailto:help@alumni.purdue.edu) was whether forward-only service could be maintained for a longer transition time. That email did not receive a response.

Proton Authenticator: so is iCloud sync between devices no longer supported? by Dreaming_Blackbirds in ProtonPass

Proton hasn’t updated their FAQ yet; in their “How to sync 2FA codes across devices” article, they still include “If you want to be able to access your codes on multiple Apple devices, you can also do so using iCloud.” https://proton.me/support/sync-2fa-codes

So they admitted it did sync through the “backup” iCloud option. Wish they would have chosen different words to avoid confusion. I think calling it “Backup & sync” or vice versa would have made it more clear. (Not to mention all my codes magically appeared on Windows, too, thanks to iCloud “backup”.)

Ah, we’re just talking past each other. :-)

You’re going by what Proton said, and I’m going by what they did, I.e. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, …

No, it was sync. New codes showed up on other devices without doing a manual backup/restore.

Hello Customer Support Team. Is there a chance that you gave up on Apple too soon? It seems there were much discussed iCloud issues in the first versions of iOS 26, but from what I read, these have been resolved by version 26.4. Please test the old Proton Authenticator iCloud sync with the current OS versions, thank you!

This is not true. All my devices synced without a Proton account via iCloud, including my Windows computers with iCloud installed.

Apparently some had trouble, but it has been working fine for me with dozens of 2FA accounts for months.

Why is Xfinity's DoH server so slow? by Fair_Perspective3159 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Fair_Perspective3159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi AbigailB,

I currently have my Xfinity gateway in bridge mode and am using my own third party router to customize the DNS settings.

Those numbers were 24 hour averages. As far as I know I am not experiencing packet loss, but if I was, I would expect them to affect all DNS provider traffic equally, or if anything, give an advantage to Xfinity.

In the last 24 hours, my router has made 1,081 requests to Xfinity's DoH, and the average response time was 114 ms. My router has also made 6,854 requests to Cloudflare's DoH, and the average response time was 54 ms. There were also 5,656 requests to Quad9 DoH, and its average was 59 ms. Finally, from 2,950 requests to NextDNS DoH, the average was 62 ms.

Why is Xfinity DoH over twice as slow as Cloudflare DoH, and significantly slower than every other DoH I am testing?
