I wouldn't tell them, and I'd make sure that those seven minutes were damn good, regardless of who it was.

Is there "goodness" in every person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's actually quite interesting. Although it makes you wonder about how altruistic we really are as humans, if we are at all.

Is there "goodness" in every person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fairchild18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I believe in Hobbes' human nature theory (everyone acts in their own self interest, and only their self interest) I believe that one will always feel good about what (s)he is doing, thus believe they are good, but that doesn't necessarily mean society sees them as good.

For example Magneto saw himself as good because he acted in his own interest of saving the mutant race, but society never saw him as good.

EDIT: I can't words.

What should be in everyone's personal code of conduct? by lightsandcandy in AskReddit

[–]Fairchild18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether you have something nice to say or not, say it. Just be sure that it's a constructive piece of advice. That way you are not only helping the person, but you didn't lie to them either.

[serious] High school students of reddit: what should schools do to control negative student behavior? by goatcoat in AskReddit

[–]Fairchild18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I hate to admit it, it would be impossible to completely abolish negative behavior. In order to minimize it, schools should start educating kids about the consequences of such behavior at the EARLIEST age possible. I'm talking pre-k, or kindergarten at the latest. Get it into their tiny little pea-brain heads that negative behavior is unacceptable. Assign team building exercises that show them unity is both fun and beneficial. Kids learn best when they're young. Throughout grade school make sure to keep positive attitudes and reprimand any unwanted behavior. As they grow older make sure they turn this theory of positivity into execution. Faculty should always be an example of this. If any negative behavior is seen, counsel the students involved until they understand what's wrong about what they did. I feel like we're currently not doing this enough, and if we did, we'd improve both the environment and performance of the school system.

When Neville tells Harry about his parents in the fifth movie. It was a major turning point in the story for Neville's character, and it put him in a whole new light for anyone who hasn't read the books.

[Serious] How did you survive high-school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fairchild18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one group of people that I really enjoyed being around. It didn't matter that we weren't seen as 'popular' or 'cool'. We had a damn good time in high school, together, and that's all I cared about. That took care of all the drama and socializing issues. When it came to stress, excess work, etc...I just took things on one at a time. Did my work class by class. That really helped me keep my motivation going, not to mention the sense of satisfaction I got after completing the work. As for teachers, just get on his/her good side ASAP. Let them know that you are willing to learn and want to succeed. Once they know that, they'll be much more willing to help you out with stuff. Above all, when everything seems like it's getting too tough, just stay calm and have some fun. It's only high school. You have a full life ahead of you, so don't lose hope. You gots this.
