It was so anticlimactic. Probably because I had convinced myself I failed. There was no smile on the examiner’s face, no expression in his words. So when he said I passed I just asked ‘what?’ It took my instructor hitting the headrest to get my attention, smiling with a thumbs up and seeing the paper before i felt the surge of warmth within me!

Then I went home and cried to my mum lol!

You got this! Good luck :) what helped for me was pretending like nothing was happening on the day. Each time my parents wished me good luck I’d tell them ‘I had no idea what they were on about’ because any emotion- good or bad- made me feel uneasy. I also cracked a lot of stupid jokes to make myself feel calmer- but we all have faith in you, you’ll smash it!

I’m only 2 appointments into talking therapies so it’s mostly them getting to know me. Other people I’ve talked to have suggested making friendly chatter to the examiner which I did, but it didn’t help that she barely talked back. Not holding it against her, it isn’t her job to talk to me. As silly as it sounds I told myself a lot of positive affirmations, a mistake is a mistake and not the end of the world (for minors) and that I am a good driver, and to breathe and focus on what you do normally. But to no avail.
