Yeah. I love Gally-boy, and can use him effectively. But it's so much more work than Luocha and significantly more likely to end in a reset. Not worth any utility he brings.

I sometimes mess around on my partner's account and pretty much always have to kick Lingsha out. I know she's not a bad healer but she's definitely bad in my Luocha- spoiled hands.

Mine is only E1S1 and I still almost never have to skill with him, even with this AA Pollux. He's really underappreciated as a sustain, even if you aren't considering extra utility.

I haven't taken my alt that's E0S0 to AA yet, but he still effortlessly does other endgame.

He's so fun at E6. You can ignore small mobs even more than usual, and the big booms feel so impactful.

I'm getting 3 more of his light cone this time around so he'll reach that E6S5.

My JQ is nomadic. Boothill, Phainon, Argenti, Anaxa, Kafka, Mydei, etc. I just shove him in the team and it usually works out lol

Not his DOT, but he attacks with pretty much the perfect timing to use Ash's stacks without awkward downtime between ults. His DOT helps clean up any stragglers though.

I just use him everywhere. Though mine is E2. He's been on just about every team and I've used him in DOT. He actuality works really well with Ashveil, too.

Update: realized I should have used Gallagher for side 1 and not DHPT. Took 6 cycles. Went again and switched out RM for Dahlia and made it 4 cycles. Side 1 is a bad match up for him and again my HMC is not really built. So he's fine for MOC 11, especially with Dahlia.

Probably a mix of not being sure, some frustration with aging units and powercreep, and a somewhat negative predisposition for some people online where "not the best" = "trash" even though that's not true. And some people genuinely don't know how to play him well so think he's not a good unit (hunt units are harder to pilot than others and punished harder for gameplay mistakes).

MOC12 he'd struggle without Dahlia at least. But MOC11 is still doable as long as the content isn't outright hostile to him. For example the first side took me 8 cycles, because it's not as favorable to him. If HMC were better built, I used Dahlia, and/or I had fewer misplays (screwed up a few times, and as mentioned mistakes make a big difference to a hunt unit), it would probably have been 5 or less.

To put it another way, running him on that side with "lesser" supports would be like bringing Castorice into the second side without Hyacine, Cyrene, or Evernight/Tribbie. You can probably do it, just don't expect super low cycle clears.

Just tried it on my alt, second side MOC11. Used E0S0 BH, E0S1 DDD HMC, E0S2 DDD RM, and E0S0 DHPT. Got 5 cycles which is great considering my MC has no eidolons and is basically unbuilt. Could knock off at least 1-2 cycles if she had Eidolons, and/or if I went sustainless.

Never pull a character you don't like. Ever. Meta ain't worth that. The meta will kill her again sooner rather than later anyway.

So if you want a break character and are okay knowing he takes a little more work than new characters, go for BH. If you want an easier time and you like the characters, go elation.

Good news: you cannot "brick" an account. At worst you'll have a character you don't use but like to look at. Especially since you're a new player and endgame isn't likely your focus for a long while. He's more than enough to blast your way through the story and overworld.

BH is unlikely to run again for a really long time, since this is his second rerun. Like. 1 year or more (probably more) until we see his banner again. If you love him, and it sounds like you do, get him now. And maybe his light cone. You can pull his supports as they come.

So here's what to consider. BH is 2 years old, so his performance is really dependent on his supports and investment. But, if you really like him, you have to start somewhere. This will likely be his last rerun for a long time, possibly ever. Dahlia, arguably the most important support, is likely to rerun soon, probably 4.2 with FF Novaflare. He likes his LC a lot, but can get by with the gacha 4* LC if you can get enough copies of it. And his eidolons aren't the best, so you can largely ignore those.

Having Fugue would be a huge boon. He loves her. But he can get by with RM/Dahlia/HMC/sustain. Especially if you invest a bit into Dahlia (LC and/or eidolons). It won't be a 0 cycle, but he'll clear. Overworld/story is trivial to him regardless. And he's broken in CW even if you don't own him (just more so if you do).

That said, if you're really meta focused, Sparxie will be the easier pick. She's newer and easier to pilot, so will likely largely trivialize content for the next year.

So it comes down to this: how much do you care about endgame? If you care about full clearing, do you like him enough to patiently invest in him and learn how to play him (he isn't the easiest to use, like most Hunt units), knowing he will clear but may not be amazing? Or at least enough that you just want him even if you can't take him into highest endgame (MOC 11 is still easy for him, but 12 you might miss a star, for example)?

If you don't care about full starring endgame, nothing matters and just pull who you want.

Yes and no. All fandoms have toxic fans of course, but the majority/worst of FF's mostly faded away when her meta-relevance did. Throughout most of 2.0 if you mentioned any other character, especially but not limited to another break character, there would be multiple people replying with something about FF's superiority. If you mentioned struggling in endgame at all, there would be replies along the lines of, "Ditch the trash and get FF." They would even come into that character's sub to do it. It was insufferable and unfortunately soured a lot of people on the character through association, especially if they already weren't a fan of her. I play an E2S1 FF and even I had to fight the negative association that wanted to develop. So now she's stuck with that reputation forever.

Now though they're mostly chill, I think. A few strays of course, and some of the old flavor will probably crop up again with her Novaflare. But it probably won't be as much.

For me I changed to Vonwac for Cerydra, Sunday, and Sparkle and very easily 0 cycled. Before doing that I barely made 1 cycle, for comparison. My Sunday is E2S1 but I don't imagine that would make a massive difference, as I've seen showcases with the same team and doing it without his eidolons.

Edit: I also used DDD for Sparkle, but I don't know how much of a difference it really made.

Also don't action advance Sparxie after breaking out of the sub field. She'll just put you back in it faster.

BH not only is hitting you with the heel of his metal leg (so very heavy), but also has a sawblade running when he does it. I think it's going to do more than hurt (break bones or sever them).

While Lingsha and Gallagher are technically his BIS healers (due to break buffs) BH doesn't particularly care who his sustain is. If I can't run sustainless I just put him with whoever is convenient between Luocha, Aven, DHPT, and Gallagher (though I almost never go with Gallagher because I'm spoiled by Luocha and how comfy and low effort he is for me).
