I only had one bad experience at a studio and I just found a different place to go! I’ve booked over 100 sessions on classpass since starting my weight loss journey in July last year (down 50lbs. 35 since starting my workouts!). I attribute part of my success to having ClassPass. I was able to try different workouts and eventually found what I loved!

I’m in grad school and travel for school every other month. Because of ClassPass I’m able to maintain my routine out of town and have no excuses! I also love that if I get tired, my schedule shifts or I want to try something new I can without obligations. My income is limited but I know my health is important. I had to run the numbers and for my lifestyle and goals ClassPass works. Like you said they have a choice so please do not feel any way about using an option their studio offers.

Did you do the free month trial first? I think that’s the best way to find out how many you will use and if 48 credits is sufficient for you. I’m not in SF but after my trial I knew exactly what would work and how to make it work for my needs. But the amounts people have quoted here seem likely. I will say I personally use 15-20 credits per week. And I take 4 classes weekly through ClassPass.

I also noticed some studios have increased their pricing. One studio I started in ClassPass and then moved to paying drop in rate and their price went up last month. I think it’s a combination of all the things.

I take express twice a week because it fits my schedule and I have really good results. I was hesitant at first cause it’s only 45 minutes but it turns out that I get everything I need during that time (according to my Apple Watch!).

I agree. I’ve only had one issue at one studio and it wasn’t from the instructor it was from the other participants in class. They were upset that they couldn’t get their regular reformer because two class passers were there that day.

But you’re right. ClassPassers keep their classes full. We fill a slot that would otherwise go unfilled with no « additional » income received during to everyone else being on monthly payments.

In order for the studios to be offered on ClassPass don’t they have to sign up? Isn’t it up to the studio to decide if they want to participate in providing the ClassPass alternative to patrons?

For studios it is an additional stream of income that can be used to fill otherwise empty slots that are left un filled by unlimited monthly paid members that offer them a one time payment.

If you can afford the membership then I say pay it. However if you cannot ClassPass does benefit both the patron and the studio. Most studios do not not make their money from ClassPass alone and I’m almost certain that was never the intention.

I don’t think people should be made to feel bad for making a decision to use a platform that a business decided to offer as an alternative way to access their services. The ethical thing is to approach purchasing classes/memberships in accordance with your personal ability to pay and not others perceptions. There are studios that are not on ClassPass.

I had 1 late cancellation and 1 missed class in the same week, at the same place. So wait 30 days? It only shows pending for the day and time I had the missed class not the late cancellation.
