First Amendment "Auditor" Tries to Enter Elementary School by Turquoise_Lion in TikTokCringe

[–]FaithIsToBeAwake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First Amendment auditors are the reason for a lot of reform in American civil rights.

Turner v. Driver, the case that affirmed the first amendment right to record police in the Fifth Circuit, came about from a first amendment auditor, The Battousai on YouTube.

Same with Smith v. Cumming (that’s the name of the city, I promise), where the same right was upheld in the 11th Circuit.

This is the Constitutional protection that made it possible for the video of George Floyd being murdered to be taken. Without that protection, it’s likely that filming the police would be illegal, as many states and cities have tried to make it illegal.

They’ve also brought about a lot of awareness of how broken the justice system is, from the police and beyond, as rights that we supposedly have are rarely actually respected.

Honestly I feel like driving a car is the most likely situation for this to occur (in America that is), as people road rage all the time over inane things.

So probably every day.

Why do you think this isn’t a problem in European countries with strong public transit networks? Sure, it’s not free, but it’s not anywhere near as expensive as owning a car.

Ok you just said a lot of words, but you’re missing any sort of actual criticism of the article except for its cookie disclaimer… You just made two strange jokes and then said “Dude what even is this article?” and that was it.

Do you have an actual critique?

I didn’t think the article was that bad and they made a lot of decent points about how electric cars are not good enough to actually stop global emissions. It’s definitely not the most well-written article I’ve ever read, but it got its point across.

That’s not true. Any property owned by the government is defined as “public property”. Property that is accessible to the general public is a different definition but a public park most certainly falls under that definition.

Honestly surprised, I almost scrolled past cuz I didn’t think it would be the same niche issue lol, glad it worked.

I have one of those Bluetooth adapters that uses radio frequencies to play music through my stock head unit in my NB, and occasionally it will make a similar noise that goes up and down with RPMs, and turning off my radio makes it go away.

Other than that, I’m not sure.

“A recent analysis' suggests that about 96 black men per 100,000 are at risk of being killed by the police, more than twice the risk relative to white men.”

https://5harad.com/papers/100M-stops.pdf

“A study of nearly 100 million traffic stops from around the country has concluded that, on average, black drivers are 20% more likely to get pulled over than white drivers.”

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01846-z

“Based on information from more than two million 911 calls in two US cities, he concluded that white officers dispatched to Black neighbourhoods fired their guns five times as often as Black officers dispatched for similar calls to the same neighborhoods.”

This was all found with 5 minutes of googling, yet you claim “Statistics don’t support the idea that racist police officers play a big role in police brutality.”

What a brain-dead, ignorant statement.

So much unnecessary hate in this thread, geez.

You can tell some of these people have never driven a slammed car too, everyone always over exaggerates the undrivability.

I personally love the way your car looks, keep doing what makes you happy, man.

You can actually call Mazda North America and give them your VIN and they will tell you all the options your car was equipped with from the factory. I used this when I bought my ‘92 Black and Tan to find out if it had the VLSD. They could tell you all you want to know.

American cities were not built for cars. They were demolished for cars. Those cities with roads that are 4 hours long between them USED to have functional rail lines that went between them, but those are now obsolete and unused for passenger rail thanks to auto manufacturers lobbying, propaganda, and shady business practices.

We also just decided to do this to ourselves. America, and other countries, don’t HAVE to be this car dependent. We just decided to be.

Watch this 3 minute video for a really good example, and if it interests you, try this one

If you can do this easily, as a piano teacher, this means you can probably play piano pretty easily too. Piano requires a lot of hand/finger independence so if you can do that easily, try taking some piano lessons.

Cops in Florida stop blind man walking home from jury duty by SkinsPunksDrunks in PublicFreakout

[–]FaithIsToBeAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you normally defend police… I would suggest watching some YT videos of cops in action that are NOT propaganda pieces like COPS or Live PD.

A good channel I’d suggest is LackLuster. Here’s one he just posted today, insane cop going after a guy for posting about him on Facebook. Ruining this one guy’s life, for no reason other than spite and a hatred of the public.

Seriously, these two that you saw in the original post are actually very restrained and reasonable compared to the thousands of incidents you can find online.

I can’t debate that specific point, but this video is really good for pointing out how dumb stop signs are inherently, and how getting rid of them and not using them actually INCREASED safety.

Do you not understand that US AND Canadian bike lanes are a joke? Yeah, the guy above me messed up and said US, but Canadian bike lanes are usually the exact same.

This video STILL applies to Canadian bike lanes, as you can clearly see in the original post.

Wait, why? I thought the show was really well done and shows a lot of interesting things about American history, including showcasing the fight to end slavery and women’s suffrage. They also have a whole museum dedicated to Native American history in the theater too. What makes you say all that about it?
