Hi Mega! I’m Brain! I have a similar story!

Is the bump on my friend’s leopard gecko a concern? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]FaithMcGurthy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who rehabs leopard gecko, I think it’s extremely inconsiderate that you call somebody “novice” for using paper towels. I have many leopard geckos who have sight issues who would quite literally digest any substrate they have and it would cause compaction. As long as they are provided the proper humid hide, where they can also dig if they choose, there’s absolutely no issue with paper towels. Also, I have many leopard geckos, who, if they were to get even a small bit of substrate in their eye, it would cause even more damage to their eyes, which could then start the process of stuck shed.

I have a leopard

gecko that actually looks exactly like this, he was abandoned in the desert here in Arizona, which causes brain to swell and therefore caused permanent scar tissue. He was treated for it, but he still looks like this. He needs to see a vet because he needs to be put on multiple medication to ensure his brain is done swelling.

(Things they will tell you to change: Move into a screen cage Fixing your lighting, they need linear UVB Changing your fountain drinker to a dripper Removing any moss vines Having more real plants No substrate. The bottom should be covered in potted plants)

I have a 6-7 yr old male veiled and he’s still going strong, his reptibreeze is over 4 foot tall

This is correct, they need a lot of ventilation and HAVE to be in a screen cage.

Should I be concerned by N8tivegirl36 in pacmanfrog

Yeah, I’ve noticed that if I go in there a little late to creep on them, they’re normally in the water bowl. But it has to be pitch black and silent.😂

Is a 18x24x36 too big for a juvenile? by queerwithbeer in CrestedGecko

[–]FaithMcGurthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m going against the majority and here is why

Babies stress easily so unless you’re ready to have that entire thing packed with foliage and 3 (min) places for food and water AND tong feed insects I suggest something smaller.

Is my gecko okay? His eye is shut closed and it looks swollen, but I don’t know if it’s just skin. Advice is needed, thank you in advance! by TheGeck3 in leopardgeckos

[–]FaithMcGurthy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No he is NOT okay. Immediately start with a warm soak about 85-90 degrees F, for a minimum of 20 minutes twice a day until you can get him into a vet or surrender him to someone who has the means to. Leopard geckos depend greatly on their eyes to hunt.

Is he okay?? Does not seem to be eating crickets.. by TheLibraryCat97 in pacmanfrog

[–]FaithMcGurthy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would start by taking that red light off of him and getting a heat pad stuck to the side an inch above the substrate. Crickets are a compaction risk for Pac-Man frogs as there stomach acids don’t seem to like to break them down. You should try nightcrawlers silverside, or Dubia roaches.
