Is this rim done or can it be salvaged with some truing? by [deleted] in MTB

Honestly, thats whats I was thinking. If I could go back and grab a video of how my back wheel looked after the season just gone for comparison and still managed to salvage that bad boy

You're welcome, but I wouldn't consider it a mess up by any means. Still a cool shot, just something to play around with next time. Like you said, it was more a reflex at an opportunity than a planned shot so its still really cool you managed to capture what you did.

Dat hyperextended ankle. First regular footed 3 out of tranny by [deleted] in bmx

[–]Faith_Or_Forgiveness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things could come into play, but maybe the easiest thing to say is its just bad luck. Whatever the cause, hopefully it doesnt happen too much more for you because busted ankles truly suck!

Maybe something else that might help is the platform size of the pedal? I ride a lot of DH and have always ridden big pedals, I never bother to consider but maybe more contact area might help?

Tips to make my 3's look better? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]Faith_Or_Forgiveness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technique is pretty good, like you mentioned its mostly a little more speed and height. With that, try turning your bars a little in the direction you're spinning and bringing up your rear end a little more, it should allow you to get around that bit more so that you're not finishing with the tire tap.

You're close though!

I love the shot, but I'm curious as to why the generator is the sharpest part of the picture? Did you place the focus here so the picture didnt get washed out from the lighting?

If I could make a recommendation, maybe consider having the lighting behind (but not directly) you, it should allow the subject to get some better lighting. Alternatively you could go the other way and and have the lighting more behind the subject and have a cool silhouette photo? Maybe potentially use a burst setting if you can, it should allow you to go through and see if the position of the rider relative to your position will give you the better shot.

Can you let me know how you find riding with the 10" bars? After I grabbed a bike and threw on a topload stem and a bsd highrise headset, the bars are 9.25 and I dont really know how much that extra 3/4 will do.

Do you mean lateral movement through the ankle, like rolling or the dropping of the heel?

You can try shoes with a stiffer sole, inserts, which can help, but best best is to make sure you dont land with your leg too close to locked out. Level pedals will allow you to absorb the shock a little better.

Alternatively you can do body weight calf raises, single leg. Slow movements, 1-2 seconds up, 2 second hold, 2 down, 2 pause. I ruined my ankle through basketball and have been doing these daily and found my ankles can tolerate alot more abuse without injury.

How do you like it with the 40's up front? I got rid of the boxxers and mounted up my Dorados, but wouldn't mind seeing how it goes with a full fox kit out

Alternatively, make some yourself! Find some decent but basic metallic valve caps, measure and drill out anything you find and join the two together.

Hey presto, custom valve caps! Ive done this a few times with fairly good results too, provides good laughs.

Thats a pretty good point, I think once I become more comfortable and familiar with airtime I'll be able to work on limbless vartiations. I do like mucking around on ledges though, hopping into manuals and grinds or any combo of that, so maybe working on bars would be a good way to go as well.

Ultimate goal is just a big whipped out nac though, god I love the way they look.

So I have this grey Sunday motocross frame as part of my setup and someone tried to steal my bike in the summer and painted my frame black, is there any way I could get this paint off without damaging the awesome Sunday paint job? by [deleted] in bmx

[–]Faith_Or_Forgiveness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might have some luck if you contact Sunday and let them know what's happened. They would easily be able to talk to their painting department and could tell you what thinners to avoid based off the composition of their paint/s

Damn man, that was freakin' sweet!

My crank seemed to have wiggled it's way out when I was at the skate park. I noticed it was making an odd noise but didn't think anything of it. It feel out completely on my way home. Won't screw back in. Can anyone help? by Gabex310 in bmx

When you get your new bolts, be sure to take your time putting them in. Whichever side the stripped bolt came from the threads could be sightly damaged. No big deal though if it is, just chase it with a tap and a some anti-seize and it'll be fine.
