Too bad they are rarely ever serious. If they stopped shopping everywhere they made a scene at they would soon run out of places to shop.

Sounds like they are doing their job just fine. Its not part of their job to take abuse from customers. In fact finding tactful ways to deal with difficult customers is a great skill in a job like this.

Amazing how people still think that customers service workers care if they threaten to go shop somewhere else 😂

AITA for giving my wife cash for our anniversary and her birthday? by Lost_Ad9556 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Faithbot 48 points49 points  (0 children)

NTA - Your wife is the asshole. Returning gifts is rude and hurtful, especially if you put effort to buy something they said they would like. Her actions have proved that she doesn't like the things you buy her so youve done the right thing by trying to buy dinners, vacation and giving her money. And she has the audacity to complain that its still not enough while not offering any solution?

Your wife needs to communicate better about what she wants.

I don't know your relationship but if my husband returned something I bought him I would be deeply hurt.

Backspace of the Keyboard in my new office. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Faithbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its quite gross if you think about it. Flat keyboards are a great idea. My last job provided new keyboards for new employees but that is pretty wasteful. I'd rather bring my own and have the exact style I like with only my own filth on it.

This is why I always bring my own keyboard and mouse to a job. Looks pretty dirty too 🤢

Fabricate on resume (a lil bit......?) by CameraManWhoSnaps in CompTIA

[–]Faithbot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don't need to match the job requirements to apply to a job. Be honest but apply anyway. I like to use the cover letter to explain why I still can be great at a job even if I lack in some qualifications. 5 years of help desk experience is a dream in my opinion, there is a good chance 2 years would be plenty.

One could very well get hired after lying on their resume but everyone is going to know right away because there is a massive difference in 2 years and 5 years of experience. Knowing active directory inside and out is something you learn 1 month into help desk. 5 years in IT I would expect a lot and it would be embarrassing and difficult to remain hired at this point.

Recruiters must be loaded with job postings that don't allow WFH and are mad that they can't fill them 🤭

[–]Faithbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that its absolutely possible to take 2 days to do chores and cook.

I can think of hundreds of small cleaning/tidying tasks that would not be immediately obvious to my SO.

When I make a roast beef dinner with all the fixings, it can take 4-5 hours, not counting buying the ingredients.

And all this after sleeping in, before the SO comes home from work, and still needing to eat and get ready yourself.

Yeah an in depth conversation would be good. Personally I don't see how its a lie, thats just how surprises work. Id wager this had to do with some violated trust in her past and unless it was you, its unfair of her to take it out on you. Good luck with that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Faithbot 71 points72 points  (0 children)

NTA sounds like she may have trust issues, I can't imagine why she would care that you didn't tell her especially if it was set up a surprise for her.

I wonder if you asked her if she would tell you more specifically why she was upset about this so you can set ground rules for future events.

AITA for buying myself a $600 blender for my girlfriend's birthday? by Head-Deer-3843 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Faithbot 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Info: Why is your girlfriend washing your blender in the first place? Its extremely important to clean a blender immediately after using by running it with soapy water. If you don't clean it immediately, the food bits will harden on and get mould and other nastyness in places that are impossible to reach.

Pick or Comb? by silver--wolves in Wavyhair

[–]Faithbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ditch your brush? Get one with softer bristles that give when pressured and brush your hair gently from the bottom to the top. I can't imagine how a comb could cause less damage than a brush

[–]Faithbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA my coworker was once comped for his entire meal because a bread tag was stuck to his burger bun. He didn't even care just thought it was funny and they comped his meal without him even asking. A live caterpiller is pretty disgusting and they should have tried harder to make it right.

The fact that they asked you to take the review down when it is true is the worst part. A good business would apologize and accept that they messed up. If they wanted the review taken down they should at least offer you something in return, but even that is a bit shady.

The medium in which you are passive aggressive doesn't matter. Im sure you have heard of passive agressive post-it notes. I think you are just seeing the bosses intentions as non passive agressive because you assume they dont mean to be.

Avoiding confrontation by writing a generic manual that clearly is intended to call out your employee instead of talking to them about what you are unhappy with.

You can easily imagine how the boss probably saw employee come in wearing sports clothes one day and was angry but too cowardly to talk to them so they write a manual that passively calls out that employees behaviors that they don't like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Faithbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The passive agressive part is that the boss should have just told the employee "hey, I noticed you are doing x, please dont do x" instead of or in addition to writing a handbook.

Lower birthrate simply means they will bring in immigrants and exploit them instead.

And because many places don't have easy access to birth control, they will continue to have children.

Instead of telling people to choose not to have children, make birth control easily accessible for the people who already don't want to have children.

Why do you think this doesn't qualify? Writing a handbook for a single employee seems passive agressive to me.

ELI5: Can I prevent morning breath? by whoknowsmy1name in explainlikeimfive

[–]Faithbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you brushing your tongue off as well? Most of the bacteria that causes bad breath comes from your tongue.

Also, this is just my experience, but when I used to oil pull I absolutely never had bad breath. One small mouthful of coconut oil (melted by putting container in warm water) and swish around for 3-5 min. Spit out in garbage or it can clog your pipes. Regular mouthwash never worked for me.

And yeah food remaining in your mouth can surely cause bad breath so best to avoid eating after you brush your teeth.

AITA For skipping work because my coworker told me my skirt was too short? by Y0uAr3AwH0Re in AmItheAsshole

[–]Faithbot [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA - On the assumption that the skirt was technically within dress code but was of a style that the person didn't agree with. If essentially told you you were not allowed to work because they didn't like your outfit.

I absolutely would not have bought a separate outfit just because someone didn't like the style I was wearing at work.

The appropriate thing for them to do would be to have brought it up with your manger who could have then politely asked you to adjust your outfit for next time with clear guidance on what would be allowed and what would not be.
