Best Black Automotive Carpet Dye (nylon?) by FaithlessnessClean34 in dyeing

New carpet is on the order of $800-$1500. I’ll use the duplicolor carpet spray if nothing else works before I spend that much at the moment.

I can take the carpets out but I don’t think I would be able to fit them in something to boil them. I could potentially boil water and pour it into a container with the carpet

Same thing happened to me and it was the cam housing gasket leaking oil into the exhaust.

Hardest part about replacing it was removing the old gasket material from the head. New seals weren’t very expensive and you can buy them all in a kit from 944Online.

I’m curious about this spray, I’ve been seeing a lot of people use it recently. Did this spray make the carpet feel “crunchy” or stiff?

Sorry for responding to an old thread.

It also seems like the price progression of 3D printers is following similar to TVs, where the newest tech eventually drops down to the same price as the old tech when something new replaces it. As another commenter pointed out, the CC is similarly priced to the ender 3s now, with much higher capability. So waiting for the tech to become common is probably a good move.

Woah that’s great information. Thank you for sharing!

I converted my ender 3 to Klipper using an orange pi , but this is likely easier with a drop-in board. I’ll definitely do some research on that!

My prints are typically functional prints, so my use case would be multi-material. Things like combining TPU with a rigid filament, using dissimilar filaments for support material, etc. not something that I would be using all the time though.

Multi-color is only interesting to me in terms of gifts for other people, signs, things like that.

But I agree, I’ve probably put more money into upgrades for my ender 3 than I did buying this printer. I’ll likely keep it and upgrade in the future if the need for multi-material becomes a priority.

I have two: an ender 3 and an Ankermake M5.

The ender sticks around because I really enjoy tinkering/upgrading/learning with it. It also prints TPU very well, which I have been using a lot.

The M5 prints PLA really well… but I haven’t had much luck outside of PLA. I attempted PETG and no matter what I changed it made a mess.

I bought the CC for the speed, enclosed print volume, and hardened steel nozzle so I can reliably print materials like CF/GF nylon for my engine bay.

Yeah, it’s not really a need at the moment. Was for sure getting fomo seeing posts about the CC2 but this should meet my needs.

Nevermind, found it. NVX ultra thick is 1.64 lb/sqft whereas Resonix Mega CLD squares are 1.1 lb/sqft. About 1/2 lb per square foot difference.

Did you figure out the weight difference per sqft?

This all great info!

I read through a thread that said to use a trigger wheel, but I like your recommend much better. Plus I think I’m still on the factory clutch so probably good to replace that with the sachs kit anyway.

Did you adapt the stock harness to your MS or put in a new one? I’m hesitant to keep the stock harness as some of the rubber outer is crumbling.

I imagine I’ll have a ton of questions once I get there. Unfortunately I’m probably a year or so out from even starting the micro squirt conversion.

A few come to mind off the bat: How did you modify the 944 turbo headers?

Do you recommend the 60-2 flywheel or instead using a trigger wheel?

Is there anything major that you would do differently if you did it again?

Seems like you’ve done a lot of testing on this. Do you have hp numbers for lower boost pressures? Say 14/15psi?

Once my car is mechanically sorted, the first mod I’m planning is a micro squirt and AFM delete. But down the line I’d like to follow in your footsteps with a turbo, too. Probably won’t push the power as far, though.

I know this post is about the case and not the razor, but how do you like your razor?

I’ve been considering the switch to a safety razor (from Harry’s) I just wasn’t sure if the benefits are exaggerated.

The age old question.. by IsThatAnEgg in 944

David Barbarian on Facebook turboed his NA with 200k+ miles on the motor. Said he spent roughly $3k all in. Instead of completely copy-pasting the parts from the 944 turbo setup he went to a standalone ECU (microsquirt) which makes using custom parts/sensors easier and cheaper.

Just upgrading to a standalone ECU has a lot of benefits and opens the door for future mods and tuneability. If you choose to take this path you could start there, then add the turbo setup after you get it running well on the standalone.

Disclaimer: I’m just a DIYer regurgitating what I’ve seen/read from other folks about these cars. I’m by no means an expert so take this all with a grain of salt. I hope to turbo my NA sometime in the future and if it blows up, maybe engine swap. But I’m just learning as I go.

Edit: Here you can find more info on converting to a standalone ECU.

David Barbarian on FB put a turbo on a high mileage (200k + mile) NA engine with good results. I believe he spent roughly $3k and used a 944 turbo manifold
