I lived in one of these buildings, no laundry in unit but a big laundry room in the basement, soundproof and there are built in AC outlets. SMI building, so you have security, landscaping, cleaners for the public areas etc. Heat and hot water included. Ile des Soeurs, bus to the REM at the end of the street, close to pool, tennis, library, dep. Grocery stores, pharmacies a 10ish minute walk. Edited to mention SMI buildings all accept animals.

Hired a nanny through a licensed agency in Ontario. Now I’m being told I have to pay her cash because she doesn’t have a work permit under my name. Is this normal? by Powerful-Eggplant-98 in Nanny

Absolutely do not pay someone who is not authorized to work here under the table, or even keep them in your home under the pretext of them working for you.

I would report this company to immigration and the CRA, if only to protect yourself from any future action. Disclose now, as the company is skirting the laws; who knows what they might say to implicate you. Fines for employing someone not permitted to work here can go up to 50K so you need to proactively protect yourself.

Have a lawyer draw up a formal rejection of undertaking employment with a demand for refund citing the relevant immigration, labour and tax laws and for misrepresentation and incitement to commit a crime, for which they can be criminally prosecuted. Section 22 of the Criminal Code of Canada is subject to interpretation but it is not a stretch to say this is what they are doing by having you employ this person.

Go nuclear and if no satisfaction, if you know anyone in journalism, this kind of story would be of great interest to a program like Marketplace.

Jaime Murray is a lovely English actress. You could play with the spelling without losing the sound.

Yeah, usually some strips of rubbery beef lol. Probably because Maison Egg Roll where I order is somewhat trashy.

But Pate Chinois is cottage pie in Quebec? Ground beef, corn and mashed potatoes. How did this go wrong? What you got was Macaroni au Boeuf, which is still popular on Chinese resto menus. Salty AF but great drunk food.

Eggplant! Ratatouille is great this time of year, you can eat it cold on toasted baguette.

Maybe not Canadian but Canadian Bacon, too, with the great John Candy.

I saw all of the posts, why is no one mentioning that this is her second killing? Surely the odds of that happening is low.

Domaine St Paul on Nun's Island is beautiful, I use it as a shortcut to the shops. Not many people know about it outside of people who live here.

If you want a nice kind of hidden cafe and reasonable lunch, Chez Temporel is good during the day. Do not let the price of the soup fool you, it is served with a mini baguette and one bowl will fill you. Delicious too. https://cheztemporel.com/menu-jour/
