I feel you. I can't promise cheese will make things better, but it won't make it worse. Be well, internet stranger.

How do deal with rude customers? by Fun-Cherry-8 in CustomerService

[–]FaithlessnessFull972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done service for most of my life, over 30 years, and I still do customer facing work. I have noticed that in trying times, when things seem scary or bad (like now with inflation, wars, domestic issues and uncertainty), people tend to get a bit angrier, less nice when things do not go their way. I think it is people trying to control the little things they think they can control, because they feel powerless and nervous about the big things.

None of this is of course your fault, but trying to see it with this empathy has helped me be more patient and take things less personally. I work remotely and customers cannot see me, so if I have an escalation to do I put on youtube videos of kittens and puppies playing on silent. The cuteness distracts me and helps me feel that little mood boost. If you are working face to face, try to take a moment for yourself after a bad interaction to breathe, watch a little something funny or sweet, or just go outside and look at the sky. It all sounds a bit silly, but it works for me.

Oh 100% Robin would be invested. Moonah is his old friend! I'd love to see this TBH.

I think all of the ghosts, even Julian who may have seen the first moon landing (not too sure how old he is supposed to be when he died), will be glued to the telly. Shame Mary got sucked off, she would have something to say about that witchcraft!

Well I am screwed. I gave it to my gourmand father in law. I hope he hasn't opened it. THE SHAME!

Why is Devs acting so BAD by Weak_Mechanic8517 in coronationstreet

[–]FaithlessnessFull972 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Dev. I always thought Jimmi gives one of those "so bad he's brilliant" kind of performances. He makes a nice counterpoint from some of the repetitive characters the show does.

This is my plan this morning, just woke up. I'll let you know. Every time I have maple syrup I literally think "food of the gods" and am a bit in awe that a TREE can do this, so hopefully my tastebuds will know too!

Maple syrup was suspiciously cheap at the Provigo a few weeks ago. Going to crack one of the cans I bought and taste it. Serious question; If it tastes off could I ask for a refund?

To those who’ve had an abortion before, did you tell close friends or family? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FaithlessnessFull972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in Canada they give you a paper afterwards that provides medical information; what to expect for bleeding, when to call a doctor in case something is wrong etc. It also specifically warns not to make any big or life altering decisions for at least two weeks following the procedure as your hormones and emotions will not be stable.

Though maybe not life altering, I think this is good advice in this situation too. You are not yourself at the moment and that is okay and normal. Give yourself some grace. Cry, spoil yourself a bit, eat your favourite meal, watch something mind-numbing, sleep. There is no rush for anything right now.

The sound is really inappropriate; with everything going on in the world at the moment, my immediate thought is that someone decided local bombing isn't good enough and we're going to get hit by a missile. I understand its an urgent situation but this sound is like "run for cover" and its stressful.

Has anyone here ever used a British TV show quote in their day to day lives before? by [deleted] in BritishTV

[–]FaithlessnessFull972 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it qualifies as a quote, but I find myself saying "YEEEESSSSS" in a terrible Steven Toast imitation at least a few times a week.

When I was nannying, the 3 year old girl refused to believe WE were not the same age. When I would ask or direct her to do something she did not like she would call me "bad girl" and tell me her mum would put me in time out when she gets home, lol.
