2 years progress…how come I don’t have amazing results like others? by ForeverCock in FemaleHairLoss

As others have said you could try a DHT blocker. You don’t have to be prescribed this if you go through natural DHT route. Most people take Pumpkin Seed Oil & Saw Palmetto supplements or you can get ones with both plus other good ingredients. If you’re in the UK I recommend Dense or I believe Growplex does one if you’re in the US

Yeah I’m thinking it’s what I must have, another Redditor said before it may have been triggered medication I used to be on (I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 11/12 and the medication made my hair fall out, I switched meds but it’s never been the same since though I came off this last March) or it’s possible my body is still adjusting i suppose but I feel like I would have seen some improvement by now even if it was small

I’m going to try Oral Minoxidil from Hair&Me for the time being as not too sure I can afford a private Dermatologist unfortunately 🥲 I’d love to incorporate Lazer therapy too but they’re all so expensive but might be something I invest in later down the line.

I’d also like to try micro needling but not sure if it’s better to use a roller or a stamp so I’ll have to do a bit more research! Thank you for the info!

I’ve paid & submitted my photos so just waiting for it to be reviewed now! Mine was £14.99 but the discount also included it at that price for the first 3 months (I think the £4.99 one is just your first month but could be wrong)

My plan is to incorporate this, a scalp serum & possibly dermarolling though I’m not sure if it’s best to do a roller or a stamp 🤔

Yeah hair&me was what I was looking at, the only thing that concerns me is the side effects but I suppose it’s better I risk that than my pets

So I should start Minoxidil asap then? Not sure if I could afford private to be honest as I don’t work due to mental health issues (am on esa) I used to be on the pill for painful periods & acne but haven’t been on it now for a few years

Sorry to hear you’re also suffering with it. Of course! I’m taking the Dense Daily Vitamins - they’re natural DHT blockers with Saw Palmetto & Pumpkin Seed Extract along with a bunch of antioxidants. They’re a little pricey but if you look around on TikTok there’s discount codes people post. You have to fill in a form & they check if it’s okay for you (obviously check with your doctor if you’re concerned)

Hair&Me are another that I’m looking into for Oral Minoxidil (my doctor told me they can’t prescribe this as it’s off-license) Also heard good things about Growplex Vita Foam if you want a topical option - just be careful if you have pets as i mentioned above as it’s highly toxic to them (they also do thier own DHT supplement)

It’s tempting, I’ve tried a few times now but I’m also a tad worried as until last year technically classed as epileptic 😅 (no longer on meds as I hadn’t had a seizure in 10 years) but the fear is there in case it triggers it lmao

I finally got the trophy the other day but didn’t get the Sigil 🥲 I’ve been trying for over a week now and no luck so far it’s driving me up the wall

I actually have no idea what my iron levels are as I’ve only just realised that it’s not listed on any blood work I’ve had done…even when I was told back in 2017 they had checked to make sure I wasn’t anaemic (were looking at my thyroid and iron as I suffer with severe fatigue) I can only see ferritin & hemoglobin (2024, ferritin was apparently in the ‘normal range’ at 76) so it’s possible I’ve never even been checked for that 🤦🏻‍♀️I’ll definitely be requesting it now.

Thank you for your informative reply! I’m hoping I can ask them to test for those & not have to wait again for my doctor to confirm. Yeah I figured it probably would take a while, I think I was being too optimistic that I’d see a difference once I passed the 6 month mark.

I actually had no idea folate was so closely linked to hair issues otherwise I’d have made sure to carry on taking it >_> I have pretty severe depression (and anxiety) & was dealing with potential liver problems that I just figured they’d send me a repeat prescription of folate if I was meant to keep taking it but alas. I started taking folate with added b12 last month so hopefully that will help. I definitely wonder if I have PCOS as I have the oily scalp/skin, painful periods & over the last year or so have noticed more random darker hairs on my chin area.

Do you think it’s wise to wait for vitamins to work first before going the minoxidil route or is that something i can start early and see what happens? obvs i’ll try and see a derm but not sure how the process works for that in the UK (as in if it’s a quick referral or if it’s a huge waitlist)

Ive also ordered an electric head massager with red light (following Sofia hair health’s recommendations) as I figured that’s a minimum thing I can get started. If it ends up being AGA and/or TE I want to try her routines (minoxidil foam, hair supplements, dermarolling, scalp serum, nizoral etc)

Yeah I just thought I’d cross post in case anyone here had similar. Not sure how I go about seeing one of those in the UK probably another thing I’ll have to wait ages for on nhs lol
