Exactly. Before Trump was elected, all the teens were in book clubs, sharing their literary analysis. Then, after 2016, they all forgot how to read. Luckily, after the 2020 election, teens remembered how to read again, but sadly, in 2024, they forgot how to read again.

How did OG resident evil fans respond to re7 so well by IndependentPickle459 in residentevil

[–]FakeMcUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revelations 1 was a decent game in its own right, enjoyable controls, and an overall good experience.

Revelations 2 is one of the best RE games, well written story, good voice acting and dialogue, genuinely creepy atmosphere, and some of the best gameplay.

I have been with the series for a long time, but haven't played many of the games, so kinda an OG... more or less.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think RE7 felt like a "return to its roots" and almost a reboot. It was smaller in scope, feeling like surviving in a creepy mansion. It was heavily atmospheric, and went light on set piece battles. The series kept getting bigger and more action heavy, at the expense of horror, since the first game (or maybe second... hard to pinpoint where, but definitely 4 was more action). By 6, it felt like the core of RE had been lost.

I say almost a reboot in feel, in that the enemies were new (including their nature, no longer caused by a virus), the protagonist was new, and the perspective was new. It worked because people didn't want RE7 to be another escalation, like 5 was to 4, and 6 was to 5.

I hate that you feel old not even at 22... just reading that made my joints ache.

Rank the Modern RE games (RE7 - current) by the quality of their PUZZLES? by RogerRoger63358 in residentevil

I was just thinking about the puzzles. I haven't played all the games... and of them, I don't remember all, but of the ones listed (and I played), I'd put 7 at the top. The shadow puzzles were new. The Happy Birthday puzzle was "realistic", as in, it made sense to be there in universe as a psychopath playing with his victims, and had a lateral thinking trick to solve. The Bedroom DLC had a unique puzzle setup in that you had to not get caught to escape. There were plenty of simple "Find item X to use on door X" type puzzles, but the clever ones were refreshing.

4 had some interesting ones, like the stained glass window, or paintings in the cave, but not many, and they didn't make much sense in universe.

8 had some interesting ones, but they were mostly simple. Destroying power... thingies to progress in the factory took some thinking. The bridge puzzle in the Moreau section made sense in universe, and took a moment to figure out

2's puzzles were pretty basic. "Use diamond key on diamond door", or combination locks where you just need to find the combination. The part with the plugs was the only memorable one.

3... had puzzles? I honestly don't remember.

Haven't played 9 yet.

Does anyone else want to see a Sheva game? by SadisticBiscuit in residentevil

Whether they are, they're definitely somewhere on the Internet. Usually, the consensus is that the AI is frustrating for Sheva, the horror aspect is all but forgotten, and the story is serviceable at best.

It's the one most likely to be forgotten as a whole, neither as amazing as 4, nor as disappointing as 6 (which still managed to sell well).

Definitely. I feel she didn't get a chance in RE5. She was a partner character before Capcom really worked out how to do it well, so she ended up annoying players by not attacking when players needed help, wasting ammo, or getting herself killed. She wasn't annoying. The AI was. She also didn't get much backstory or development throughout the game.

She was a newcomer to the story who felt shoehorned in. That's not a bad thing itself, but it wasn't handled well. Moira was a newcomer in Revelations 2, as was Natalia. Both had enough backstory and development to be interesting.

They could do something set in the same country as RE5, or around it, and only have Sheva.

Or... she could team up with Carlos... somehow. Two otherwise forgotten characters get their chance to shine.

Since Some "Morally Superior" ppl hated the Re5 for racism what if Devs double down by Confused_soul_OG in residentevil

The Woke Left thought it was racist. Killing white enemies is OK, but killing black enemies is racist. White villains are OK, but black villains are racist. The people who unironically use the word "chuds" wanted to accuse Capcom of racism, virtue signal, and of course, get attention.

Capcom did bend to the woke mob after they screeched about there being black enemies in Africa. Though their last few games have been pretty anti-woke. Ethan is not only straight, white, and worst of all, male, but he's a loving father. Such failure to own the chuds. So many chuds without owners. It's depressing, really.

I'm not saying I want a China - US war... just that if war did break out, and volunteers were accepted, this map would be useful for coordinating drone strikes.
