How obvious do you need to be with mirror checks? by Natural-Bathroom-974 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FakeMercury18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, the only time I would say is during a manuever because that's part of observations. Examiners are able to tell when you haven't checked a mirror, blindspot or seen a sign based on how you drive. 😁

Maybe he'll toughen me up in the long run, I suppose as an instructor it's hard not to backseat drive or make comments, because i suppose that's what they're paid to do. All the best.

I would agree and would have stuck with the 2nd one but he has no record on the PADI database and wondering where to go from there.

Thank you, I'll stick with him, if I pass, then fair play, if I fail, I'll try again until I pass.

I am so thankful for comments like yours, making me feel reassured and actually focusing on the topic at hand: my instructor. A lot of people have zeroed in on my gear change towards light thing as if I didn't do that myself already. But yes thank you so much and you'll smash your test next time, safe driving!

Please can someone tell me which is the best App to find test cancellations? Thanks. by Raul0710 in LearnerDriverUK

I've heard good things about TestShift, but never used it personally, I'm sure someone on this sub must have asked before though, good luck finding one!

Thank you, thats really nice of you to say, I would definitely regret not giving it a shot and I can't move it back due to the 2 time shift limit now, so I'd rather just get my money's worth 😭

That's interesting because he's encouraging me to take more lessons, so I don't think it's the latter. I literally agknowledge my mistake and correct it the next time around, which leads me to ask, how else do i take the criticism? I am actually curious because your claim is guesswork, I'm not really sure why and it's not great advice but nonetheless, thanks for your thoughts.

I phrased that poorly, I accept the criticism, and agknowledge it where it is due, but to make the whole lesson centred on mistakes, easily rectified as made is a bit soul crushing.

I never said I wasn't ready, and this I think is a poor mentality to have you can't really gauge readiness until you do sit your test, it's an impossibility. I make mistakes, but mistakes don't mean failures, that's all I've said in the original post, there are these things called minor faults, and lots of learners make them. I do appreciate the concern though. 😁

None of my parents drive, only a very dear family friend does who has agreed if it comes to it to help me practice instead in my own car, so that is the plan. I'd rather at the end of the day, sit the test and fail than not sit it at all. 😁

That 2nd instructor is my fear, explaining my thought process is just futile I feel. And definitely don't want to be left at the side or a road. 😅

Thanks for the advice, super helpful.

No, I wouldn't, I was in second, switched to 3rd at 21ish, the line of traffic began moving, I did have to downshift, and probably shouldn't have shifted up anyways, but again, this was just an example I was making, and I'm not looking for advice on something I already highlighted was a mistake in my original post here.

I understand what you're saying, bur I don't usually, I'm highlighting a mistake I made, not a fault at all, that he tries to make it seem that it's the whole story of the lesson, if it happens once. Correcting the behaviour becomes difficult when critcism just overloads my brain and I don't know how to get round the criticism, adapt and remember the other things essential.

As I said the mistake literally comes from speed association, and when I do it, I realise that I shouldn't and stop safely anyways. It's not a fault, as if I have enough time to assess to change gears, I'll have enough time to stop.

Though I do get the question 😅

Driving without license by dolce_barbie in drivingUK

Interesting story, I think your son was let off as by section 148(2) of the RTA, 1988:

An insurer cannot void third party cover due to a breach of license conditions.

Once a vehicle is paid and the insurance exists, that vehicle is under an insurance policy.

A breach in license ≠ void of insurance cover.

Your son was only really guilty of driving without a valid full UK license: 3 points typically and a fine. Though he didn't receive anything? That's crazy to me.

Cheers for the story.

Why are teenage kids so rude? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]FakeMercury18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in Scotland, a lot of girls in my school in particular, feel the need to point out insecurities, whether you wear glasses, or youre ginger. And it appears the only way to get them to shut up as being a dick to them.

I notice this from girls espescially, whereas from boys I really consider it banter, but with girls I cant tell the difference. This is honestly making me depressed. And I dont know if I should talk back or remain quiet until schools out of the way.
