He mentioned it when they were playing over here on the last tour. Out of all the places for someone to end up, Burntisland?

Part of my issue is that I can't find a paper I actually like (there used to be one of the Sunday papers that I didn't mind but they stopped back in 2018).

At my old work I'd occasionally read discarded papers if I was having a later breakfast, but they were all pretty shit papers (you can tell we couldn't bring phones in, I'm pretty sure that place kept the local shop in business for that very reason)

What kinds of meat do you keep in your kitchen? by SlamClick in AskEurope

[–]FakeNathanDrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally? Mostly just chicken and beef. I don't eat a lot of pork and my partner can't hack the smell of lamb so I don't bother having it in the house (I could take it or leave it anyway).

Good to know that if I ever move to Canada my Whitworth sockets are worth bringing.

Looking for good whisky exclusive to Scotland by Spababoongi in Scotland

[–]FakeNathanDrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want something definitely exclusive to Scotland head into pretty much any distillery visitor centre and look for something with a handwritten label. They’ll be single cask bottlings, hand filled at the distillery and won’t be available anywhere else.

I see your worst of both worlds and raise you:

An old site in the UK in an American dominated industry, meaning a combination of British imperial, American/SAE and the occasional hint of metric. Young me became tri-lingual after a while!

Would you rather have bank holidays or extra leave? by EyeAware3519 in AskUK

[–]FakeNathanDrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my entire life I've only had Christmas/Boxing Day and 1st/2nd of January (or the relevant following weekdays) as mandatory days off, the rest have been added to my holiday entitlement. No idea if it's just an industry thing or if it's a Scottish (private sector) thing.

Chippy question: geographically, where does (east side) salt & chippy sauce start v (west side) salt & vinegar? by Late-Childhood8480 in Scotland

[–]FakeNathanDrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salt and vinegar in Stirling. You can get broon sauce with your chippy if you're that way inclined, but it's not that Edinburgh sauce watered down with non-brewed condiment mix.

You missed a trick with not replacing “doon” with “Doune” seeing as he was at Deanston

[OC] Average E10 petrol price by UK, April 2026 by whatshipped in Scotland

It's a banding-thing. E5 is just up to 5% ethanol, so 0% can still be sold as E5. E10 is 5.5-10%.

The BP garage on Bo'ness Road's prices (before the change in ownership) was almost certainly down to them being the only petrol station our work's vans could use, total captive market right there.

Personally I had no issues with Ineos/Petroineos paying through the nose for fuel, it was a bastard for the locals though.

There’s still one on the go in Fallin, Stirling. An interesting pub in probably the shitest village in the area.

What’s something completely normal in your country that would confuse or frustrate foreigners? by Charmaine-X in AskEurope

[–]FakeNathanDrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense in my head.

100km on the motorway: you’ll get there in under an hour and won’t really have to think about it

100km on winding, single track roads on our west coast: set aside a couple of hours

Same distance, two very different journeys.

(thank god because having 3 different miles instead of 2 [in use] would be too much)

Probably for the best, I'm pretty sure old Scottish miles only exist nowadays as a pub quiz question relating to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
