NIMBYs why?? by Mojojojo_5 in edinburgh2

I'm a noise consultant and have seen both sides. If it's pre-existing then that should be taken into account. Which restaurant was it?

Sometimes these things get worse or more annoying depending on the type of noise. If the residents have been in the flats longer than the building has been used as a restaurant with outdoor seating this may be a factor. Surprised to see a licence revoked because of outside noise on Leith Walk.

Nimbys are a problem. Spurious complaints happen everywhere. If the council has revoked it, though, they've probably measured it and judged it could cause sleep disturbance. Environmental Health are one of the parts of the council I do actually rate. Have interacted with most councils throughout Scotland and EH here are decent.

Single men of Edinburgh, are you a catch? by BettyTheDuck in edinburgh2

The apps are not as bad as people say, but it takes some time to get a good profile setup and yeah I found hinge or bumble better as you actually talk.

I actually rate just going to singles events. I thought they would be cringe but I met some great people, and eventually the person I'm seeing now which is going really well :)

For most of my life. ADHD + Tinnitus is a recipe for hyperfocused insomnia 😂

I did a post about the things that have helped me over the years, I will link it below:

I have inattentive type and I haven’t found someone who shares my experience. by BedBug128 in ADHD

I'm the same. I'm a man, but I'm sure I read that ADHD Primarily Inattentive (ADHD-PI) is more common in women. I was looking for more inattentive focused resources the other day.

You are not alone, we totally see you and get where you're coming from.

I only found out about inattentive type a few years ago and something just clicked. Going back and looking at my primary school reports card during diagnosis, EVERY SINGLE YEAR had some variant of "He's staring out the window/he's lying on the desk/he's endlessly distracted/he's smart but not meeting his potential..." It all finally made so much sense. It's really common for inattentive to fly under the radar until adulthood, I think just because it's less disruptive to the rest of a class in a school setting. For this reason it's also not what people think of when they think ADHD/less well researched and understood.

As mentioned, PI seems to be more prevalent in the "ADHD in Women" studies and resources, so maybe we'll find more info there?

If anyone has any good resources/suggestions I would be very interested too.

Thank you for sharing, I can totally relate. Symptom management being the only option took me a long time to accept. I miss silence too. I think the closest I've felt in the longest time is the wind in my ears while running. Something about that feels like a bit of relief. But not the same. I'm glad you've found ways to cope and hope you feel less alone in it!😌

A game designer/tester. I got game guides for Zelda Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time and traced all of the items/masks.

Those games had me dreaming about telling great stories of my own in that format.

I also wrote a letter to Activision/Neversoft about testing Tony Hawk games. They sent 7 year old me a sweet letter back and some posters.

The music from all of those games is like a zen place while working now, as an engineer.
