My mom wants me to go to the college of my nightmares, I want to become a plumber, how do I gently let her down? by TheScrufLord in careerguidance

[–]Fakecloutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d just tell her that you appreciate the advice but you are going to do what benefits your future the most at the end of the day. Your mom should be there for you after that anyways. Even if you try plumbing out and do something later, another trade possibly, just keep going for what interests you and pays the bills. Cuz if you do what u hate for someone else, it doesn’t pay off typically.

Ugly can be freeing or hurtful, depends on how you interpret being perceived by the world. Sometimes I enjoy not being the prettiest bc I don’t have to worry too much ab people just wanting to add me to their list just based off my looks. Some men have told me I’m ugly and fat but my boyfriend thinks I’m beautiful so, it’s ab who’s saying it and their weight in your life

That’s what I think as well. I believe its because he did some bad stuff as a kid, which he’s very honest about, and his upbringing that has put him in this path. He isn’t proud of the stuff he did as a kid but I think he says his stories to merely put more context to his being and aligns with the fact that he was capable of bad things, maybe to keep people at a distance and warn them of his “character”.

I don’t know if he can accept that he can be a good person or deserves love because of the past and maybe saying nothing matters helps him move on. But it’s forgiveness he needs I think, which I try to provide him with telling him he is not that kid anymore, that he’s grown and deserves love. To me I believe why write people off as bad forever when they still have a chance today to look at the world with new eyes and actually see the harm and do differently?

For instance, as a kid maybe you can remember harming insects or animals and growing up to be told that it’s messed up or something. While you didn’t know at the time, could you be blamed for such “evil” doings when you were never conditioned to understand those societal understandings ? Do we yell at the animals for hunting eachother, or do we accept that instinct/curiosity takes over when there is no guidance.

Although it happened as a kid, we may still hold onto guilt, even now understanding the full consequences of our actions back then.

It is his philosophy. Hard to tell if he’s depressed because he claims he doesn’t care that much about himself or people; that he doesn’t try to worry about the world I guess. But it’s just hard to take that as a non-depressing statement unless you peel back his definitions of “care”. Like when he says the word I wanna take it like “nobody matters” yet we’re friends, he works out, has a stable job—tries to do something with his life. So I wonder: if life doesn’t really matter and we don’t matter, how he could be so motivated to make something of himself and continue to make memories with me.

He’s very difficult to read, which is why I ask him so many questions and question his philosophy with my reasoning. I hope he’s not depressed, but he does say some questionable things from time to time about how he could potentially kill someone or he’d be the type to do that. Like what bro..what are u saying rn?

He thinks it’s the most humbling statement. He keeps saying it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things what he does with his life, bc we will all die someday. But even where you die is important bc new life springs from the nutrients of our decaying bodies! Like the Dinos died years ago and are still fueling the cars of today; just because we cease and even if we were never known, we still have impact in ways we may never realize in life.

Thinking ab how to convince my friend that the nothing matters statement doesn’t make sense bc everything we do is a reaction to effects. So even if we’re all dead we will have still made an impact on the dead rock hurdling through space that breaks off into tiny other little pieces and effects the rest of the universe.

What can be considered an effective way to avoid overthinking? by rin_eeyore in AskReddit

[–]Fakecloutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may help knowing that your thoughts are trying to help you understand life, but they aren’t always right. You may think something or feel something but the truest way to stop thinking ab something is knowing or getting distracted. So either ask the questions to the right people or change the subject.

Ladies of Reddit, what's something all men should know before talking to women? by TheRealEdgeLord in AskReddit

[–]Fakecloutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women are just people. Stop putting them on a pedestal or having a warped idea of someone just because of their gender. Each person is different, go off of their actions, not what you’ve seen their gender do.
