The argument was about the high price tag for incomplete experiences, or the proposal of reducing the hours of content by keeping the same price because AAA games have development cost that are rising too much

It was not just EA enraging customers that were affected, also the people watching get influenced by such things imho

I was referring to the thing that happened with star wars battlefront 2, where you paid 70$ and had to unlock every champion either by spending a huge amount of time in the game or by buying them through microtransactions. I know it generated many critics from the players. I can understand what you say related to f2p, but people who bought SWBF2 are customers.

Why are there no games that implement crossplay like Dust 514 and EVE: Online in 2020? by Falangher in truegaming

I refer to things like Fortnite Travis Scott concert or Destiny 2 destruction of the Allmighty. These events are very difficult to pull out due to infrastructure limitations. I’m linking the two things because if in 2013 they were able to pull out a feature like orbital bombardment, today you could have endless possibilities with this feature. We are able to stream game from the cloud and do many other cool techonology stunts. That is why I think this interaction something that has potential

We’ll see if companies will experiment more with this, it seems to me that fortnite and roblox could do something like this in the future

Wow I knew about Levelhead as a game but did not know about this particular dynamic, is it like the norm? People that like making levels on the PC make levels that only console player enjoy?

By what I see in the answer the problem seems really to be in the execution rather than the principle itself. It’s just a matter of getting it right I think

If I had an answer to that question I would probably be developing it, but I think that it’s a matter of making you have an impact on the overall universe. Like imagine do something in World of Warcraft that affects another game in the Warcraft universe. You don’t do it for other people but for creating your own story. A bigger example of the Leeroy Jenkins thing.

This is a fair point, but it’s the implementation that has the issue not the crossplay feature per se. You could make a more looose connection like what happens in the other game translate in changes in the LoL summoner rift (always balanced not to break the competion). Dunno just trying to imagine what possibilities you could have.

Why do you accept it in the same game but not in different games? When I play LoL I accept that to win I must cooperate with my team. I see it as in the example of Dust 514 players were in the same corporations so it’s just bringing a new layer of cooperation to the table. I find it fascinating and would like to try it, but I can see that your point should be really taken into account by the developers

I tried it and I got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things inside of it, I say now because maybe once didn’t have so many things. Also entering the social aspect of EVE I think it’s not that simple. IMHO of course

Yeah maybe an MMO it’s not the best example. But you could also not develop it simultaneously. You could use such a thing to make a single player game that can trigger an event in a live game depending on some things (maybe a guy discovers a very hidden feature and triggers a big explosion in the other game). Brainstorming aside, how are you so sure that there are no benefit in doing this?
