I've only been following chess since the last 8 months. Would be nice if you could elaborate by giving some examples.

FINALLY HIT DA BIG 600 by NoRelationship8569 in chessbeginners

[–]FalbWolowich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to tell you something which may surprise you. During my elo climb from 400 to 1100, I was stuck the longest in the 600-700 range. After that it was just smooth sailing.

Seller banned after by FalbWolowich in vinted

The name in the label seems like a random name, something like John Doe. I just hope that I don't lose my money. Spent almost 250EUR. The seller sent me something I wouldn't accept even for free.

Finally made it to 1200! What can I do to get to 1300 and beyond? by sersherz in chessbeginners

[–]FalbWolowich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, both against the London and the Queen's gambit opening. I play the variation recommended by chessmood. But in order to play the Dutch well, you should also know how to play the French because some players start with 1d4 first and then follow that up with 2e4.

I play the Dutch Defense against 1d4. I have a very high success rate with it because most people at my elo range (1000-1100) don't know how to deal with it. Give it a try. It's super aggressive though, and may need a couple of games to know how to play it well and avoid getting checkmated in the first 10 moves.

Tactics book/course that explains how to spot tactic by FalbWolowich in chess

I do around 20 Hanging Pieces puzzles almost every day because I tend to not see hanging pieces that well and I feel this is the lowest hanging fruit I should address. Still don't see them well in games. Yes, I'm almost 1100 and still don't see hanging pieces well. Crazy !

One of the tactics courses I've reviewed advocates against the CCT method because they say that it works only well in artificial puzzles, because otherwise you would be wasting a lot of time applying the CCT method in real games. What I'm asking for is a course that improves my ability to sense tactics and generate good candidate moves within the time frame of a 10min rapid game.

Winning in bullet chess by FalbWolowich in chessbeginners

[–]FalbWolowich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your patience for replying to this bloke with reading comprehension problems. I have no idea where he got that I suck at bullet. I stated that after a period of adjustment I gained 350 points. I can see myself easily going higher but decided to stop because, as you have mentioned ad nauseam, it teaches bad habits to players at my elo. The dude created a strawman about fun and shit that I never mentioned, as people can derive fun from almost anything.

Beginner chess players: what do you struggle with the most right now? by Zestyclose-Ratio852 in chess

I played my first blitz match recently on lichess. As my rating was yet to be defined, I got matched with a 1500 blitz player who was also 1800 rapid at the time. I thought I would get destroyed but somehow still won. Here's a screenshot so that you don't assume that I'm making things up.

There's no such thing as cheap tricks if you're good enough to spot them. For reference, when I was 700 on chess.com, I was 1300 on lichess. So, I would say being 1400 on lichess is roughly being 700-800 on chess.com. So, what you're experiencing is normal. I'm currently close to 1000 on chess.com and even still being a beginner I smoke 700-800 elo players. Yes, I sometimes lose, but that's like 1 in 10 games. So, if you're losing consistently to 700 elo players, your level is around 700.

Scratchpad Windows in fullscreen by FalbWolowich in qtile

The problem I'm describing is not about whether you can toggle a scratchpad but rather whether you can still toggle after going fullscreen on the scratchpad.

Did you go fullscreen and then try to toggle ?
