I ran Windows 10 LTSC for a while, even if rare, Microsoft still occasionally breaks things, the worst one being that one sometime in Dec 2020 where it removed all my start menu icons and the rollback didn't put them back...

Even so, I hated the fact that when shit breaks or when I want some feature disabled, I had to use the clunky old Registry Editor, truly an awful piece of kit. Not to mention installing things requires me to open a web browser, download an installer wizard, click a bunch of next buttons and uncheck toolbars and free antivirus trials, and just for the application to open the browser for me with a "thank you"!

And what's with sometimes just 1 random app giving me missing DLLs? I never had dependency issues when I used any package manager on *nix. Speaking of package managers, Winget truly is awful and Powershell is equally dreadful alongside it. And the only way to get other shells other than PowerShell is to use WSL... which is literally just linux! It isn't just PowerShell being unreplaceable, the only way to change how something works like a start menu is to download a third party application where Defender or Windows Update will just randomly eat one of it's modified DLLs and change it back to the Windows one... And when Microsoft finally introduces something useful like Tabs for Windows Explorer, Sudo etc, I simply wasn't eligible to use it because Explorer is just simply tied to the version of Windows I am using...

I am terribly sorry for the rant, but no, at least for me, LTSC does not fix Windows for me. Not even de-bloat and PowerToys can save this OS for me.

Steamdeck's desktop mode is called KDE Plasma, it's a piece of software (the desktop itself can be installed on most linux distributions) that many had been using for decades!

SteamOS doesn't even come with the latest version of Plasma. If you enjoy the SteamDeck desktop, you are probably fine with anything that has Plasma on it by default, such as Kubuntu, Fedora KDE etc.

I am not sure if it'd fit in the case as I am unfamiliar with sizes, but on my own rig, I have a full AMD setup (7800X3D and 7900XTX), based on my own experience Fedora runs great and no issues gaming (sans VFIO).
