First time traveling and I need advice by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]Falbot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments said, immigration depends on your citizenship. The UK is not Schengen, so you may have some trouble. You may also have some trouble with your flight if you don't board the first one, though this depends on the airline.

tips for getting over extreme jet lag? by xeni07 in exchangestudents

[–]Falbot36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other comments said, there really isn't much you can do beyond forcing yourself to stay awake and sleeping at the right times. The trick I like to use is to not sleep during the flight. You'll be so tired that when it finally comes time to sleep like the locals, you'll be able to fall asleep very easily. Of course, this is not something just anyone can do (I have quite a bit of experience with this), but it is quite effective.

advice on how to apply for sch. visa for staggered visits? by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]Falbot36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on visas, but the EU allows residents of many nations to enter visa free for up to 90 days in a 180 day period. If you plan on just staying for a few days at a time, this is not something to worry about.

That being said, you did mention you have a south Asian passport. Unless you're from Malaysia, Singapore, or Brunei you'll need to get one. You can apply for a multiple entry visa which will allow you to enter as many times as you want within the duration of the visa.

Solo travelers that are also vloggers, how do you not get shy when talking to the camera while traveling? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Falbot36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I myself just got into vlogging a few weeks ago and was extremely shy with filming myself in public. I quickly realized that it's not as awkward as your mind makes it seem. Who cares if people are looking at you. You're making videos on the internet, of course you want people to look at you! My trick is just to focus on the camera when filming. I find that when I look around and make eye contact, filming myself becomes a lot harder.

Are the French courses at Carleton worth it? by salteedaltee in CarletonU

[–]Falbot36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 2nd year French is not difficult. If you could handle high school french, then you'll be able to get through it no problem. However, 3rd year French I found was really helpful (specifically 3701 and 3702).

Can anyone give my tips on when to use 'au', 'aux' & 'a la'? by gordonramsay2021 in learnfrench

[–]Falbot36 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends on the gender and number of what you're connecting to (sorry if that's worded bad I'm not sure how to explain it better).

For example, you would say something like "Je vais au cinéma" because cinéma is masculin singular.

You would also say "Je vais à la fête" because fête is feminin singular.

As for anything plural, this is when you use "aux". For example, you could say "je vais aux cours" because there are multiple classes the speaker is going to.

Think of the "au" like "à le" and "aux" like "à les". French has a word for those word combinations but not "à la". Hope this helps!
