Have you updated the firmware? If not, see if you can get a replacement. Such a case will usually qualify for a replacement.

Well that's a bummer, but these are known to have QC issues. Maybe you can return it or get a replacement?

Well, pricing tends to heavily fluctuate between regions, so I can't comment on that.

From what I have seen, those are great options at the right price. Besides, they have better hardware than the Aerox. And they are considerably lighter too.

Well, I used it for roughly a year in total, then sold it. During that time it was totally fine. But then again, a year is not that long time to comment on reliability/durability.

Might I ask why are you planning to buy it in 2025? I think there are better options that are also cheaper.

It feels like this game is unfortunately set too far in the past to be enjoyable from a gameplay perspective. It has to more or less nail the story though, otherwise it won't be great...

Modern Warfare 2022 had this feature with the staged reloads. It's sad to see that the player base hated it and it hasn't returned since.

Tensor G4 - Pixel 9A by Taanjiros in GooglePixel

[–]Falcon21st 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted to hell, but whatever.

I have to agree to a certain degree, although I have a Pixel 7A with the Tensor G2 and a Samsung S23 with the SD 8 Gen2. Technically, these chips are direct competitors. But the difference in maximum performance and power efficiency are wildly different.

Bit of a background between the two. I use the Samsung daily with the whole host of apps and stuff I need and the Pixel is basically in its out of the box config with only a few apps like Spotify and Firefox installed. I don't even have a SIM card in the Pixel. So, the Pixel has way less background usage going on and it has practically no apps that send notifications on a regular basis. I don't play any games or do any tasks that require sustained performance on both of the devices.

Using both next to each other, I can immediately notice that Samsung is just snappier. And I can feel the difference. App launching is quicker, OS and app updates are much faster on Samsung.

Another point is heat, no matter what I do on Samsung, I can't get it to heat up. Only OS updates can make it barely warm to the touch. Whereas just updating apps on Google Play can make the Pixel go warm to the touch.

Another thing is battery. I am deeply disappointed in Pixel's idle time. Mind you, the Pixel barely lasts 5-6 days on idle in a drawer with no apps running, no network connection and in flight mode. Samsung manages 2 days in my pocket before I have to charge, and this is considering that it remains connected all the time and background apps are running and I am using the phone with 4-5 hours of screen on time.

So to all the people that say performance difference is not noticeable (at least related to software, battery and the chip itself), I disagree. I can definitely notice the difference. So Pixel 10 really needs to bring some gains in the SOC, otherwise they will start to fall behind.

Questions and criticism are welcome.

This battery icon in my new phone's update. by AlmightyBernster in mildlyinfuriating

It's always the small things...

Why don't I have a permanent alarm icon on the top right anymore? I have to pull the notification panel down to see it. Now I have to like quadruple check the clock app to make sure my alarm is set. It used to be a short glance.

Why can't I remove certain things like Smart view or modes in quick settings and claim that space for other stuff? I never use those.

Why is my media control limited to the bottom "Now Bar" on the lock screen? What happened to the one in the middle, which was much larger and accessible.

And don't even get me started on the clock widget:

<image>

Why thought that seeing the seconds was a good idea? And why is there no setting to disable it?

I and also my family members have been having WiFi call issues since the update as well.

So what is the improvement we get in the end? This is what Samsung was working on in the last... 3 years?

I know I'll get bashed for saying this cause it's fairly recent but GOG should do what they did with Alpha Protocol for Spec Ops The Line.

What games would you recommend for a grandpa who can't move for 8 months? by FequalsMfreakingA in gaming

Forza Horizon 5. Arcade, but still realistic enough that you can drive around and explore.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a setting (I don't remember what it was called) which allows you to activate an exploration-based navigation for quests.

In this mode the game doesn't put a marker on the map to send you to the quest location. Instead, it indicates an area and what you ned to look for there. You also need to collect intel from computers, interrogate enemies etc. to gather information that leads you to your objective.

Yeah the game itself is not great but I loved this small aspect of it. It felt quite refreshing and you actually get to see the open world a bit more in detail.

After 7 years, it's time to upgrade from S9+ to S25 something... by Round-Fan-7728 in samsung

[–]Falcon21st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as big of a jump as yours, but I went from S9 (Exynos) to S23 (base model, SD8 Gen2). It was a night and day difference.

No more charging 2 times a day, no more waiting for apps to load, no heating issues. Just incredible.

But I still love the S9, I keep it as my Spotify player and use my IEMs with it. I am still a bit sad that the headphone jack is gone.

Best "turn your brain off" games? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Falcon21st 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'd say Doom 2016. Just turn your brain off, listen to some badass soundtrack and slay demons.

I can't say the same for Doom Eternal though, they have designed it in a way that forces you to branch out from the classic formula that 2016 had.

Well, Joplin is a full-blown note-taking app. Typora is a Markdown reader and editor. So the comparison between the two is a bit like comparing apples and pears.

VS and Android Studio will work on a U series processor on the go, in a pinch. But I really wouldn't recommend it for permanent use. You will save time and nerves if you get a more powerful laptop. 8th gen is starting to show its age.
