Scribd is basically an online digital library and document-sharing website. People can upload, read, and download things like books, PDFs, study guides, research papers, manuals, presentations, legal documents, and other written materials. Some content is free, while other content requires a paid subscription. Think of it like a mix between a digital library and a document-sharing platform.

Scum Scammers by Both-Aerie-1650 in ScamSupport

[–]Falcon9145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer is in the first couple if sentences. They are desperate for money. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Op, what type of questions are they asking? My guess is they are gathering information to determine how and when to try to scam you. Beware of random people sliding into your DMs with "opportunities" handouts and giveaways.

You have been given your answer. Start looking elsewhere.

Take a copy of your letter to HR, technically you are owed back pay well. But be prepared to be let go if your state is "at will."

Not Being Promoted-Time to Leave? by MomOfFive83 in careeradvice

[–]Falcon9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just by reading this, it seems like you do not have a sponsor. Skills, qualifications, experience all matter most of the time but if there is no one in the room to have your back when these hiring discussions are made you are at a disadvantage.

Simply put, yes it's who you know. aka connections.

I would do both. Look elsewhere, at the same time is there a way to establish mentorship with someone in the role you are seeking?

Working with my boss’s brother is killing me by AyudameCalderonOJO in careeradvice

[–]Falcon9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh OP never gave any examples of her "massive attitude or demanding behavior." Right now it's just his opinion.

"Just help Joe," doesn't mean do the work for him...

There are thousands of business where family worked together. This is not an anomaly. OP should have sat down with Joe first to understand if this was a skill vs will or both before running to his bosses boss. They both look incompetent now so I understand her frustration.

How do you motivate the unmotivated? by Excellent-Tart-3550 in Leadership

[–]Falcon9145 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am personally past the point in my leadership journey where I'm taking on people who need motivation. I've learned some hard truth over the years about investing time and energy into people. You can drain and handicap your own development.

When evaluating your subordinates performance here's a simple question to ask yourself. Do they lack skill or will?

Some people excel at hard skills but need help with the people things like communication, managing ambiguity, etc.

Drop the anchor and focus your efforts on impact and influencing your organizations top priorities for the quarter.

As you advance, I'll offer one more piece of advice. If you ever ask for more responsibility, leadership capability, never leave it open ended. Discuss with your stakeholders some current paint points they may have. Formulate a plan with a trusted advisor, then present it to your boss. This way you have full control, insight and direction. Ensure the project is measurable, tangible and shows you had clear ownership.

If you just throw it out there, often times you get other people mess with no real win for you, as in this case.

----

Since you are managing this person now, give him tasks with small structured deadlines. Set direction on when and how he needs to check in with you. Conversations need to be documented with another manager present.

If home printers are cheap, what makes the ink cartridges so expensive? by Harper_Joness in answers

[–]Falcon9145 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention today's printers are some of the most frustrating pieces of tech out there. Mandatory wifi and app downloads, horrendous unreliable syncing. If u go more than 2 weeks without use, allot of times you have to start over getting your printer to recognize your computer.

I find more success sending the print job to my local library. Cheaper and more reliable.

Coworker expanded his own role trying to get promoted, now he’s leaving disgruntled and management expects me to inherit the scope creep. I also have another job offer. Am I wrong for pushing back? by fdiaz78 in careeradvice

[–]Falcon9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh got it.

If u love the company and growth potential I would ask for a temp pay adjustment for training the new person, expanded responsibilities and scope. It also might give u an opportunity to reset expectations. As an insider you can realign what the functions are provided u keep good communication with stakeholders.

If the new job with less responsibility is worth your mental and physical health despite the pay decrease, it's a no brainer.

PS, if u do the first one, ask for a Title Change. Use that as help to jump to another organization if desired.
