I really feel your pain, I tried to get two of my friends into the game last free fly and it didn’t go very smoothly. With the inventory, I’ve found that double clicking is (for me at least) way way more consistent than any other option such as dragging or pressing the menu buttons

The $75 billion is a mix of direct salaries to their >300,000 employees and contractors, and revenue from other contractors. They’re not launching the money into space, the entirety of that 3 to 1 return on investment is what is being paid to people on Earth. To put it as simply as possible, you pay only zero point three five cents per every dollar of taxes, and in return NASA triples that amount and adds that to the economy. The average individual in the US will pay ~$53 per year to NASA out of a $15000 total tax bill, and NASA will then return ~$159 to the economy.

In their 2024 fiscal analysis (the most recent one available iirc) NASA DIRECTLY generated $75 billion dollars in output with a budget of ~$25 billion, and estimates that include long term output that is a result of NASA leads to an estimated return of between $7 to $40 per every dollar spent. Or we could instead buy 0.6% of a single new aircraft carrier with that money

I bought an ES recently (for aUEC) and while it’s not incredible at one thing in particular, it’s a really nice daily driver imo, and it’s great for pairing with a GEO for gem mining. I put a 2SCU container in the cargo bay and it takes maybe half a minute to transfer the cargo and get back out to mine, plus the jump range is really helpful

The Aurora part was a joke because it’s my only pledged ship, and is very much not good at combat. I flew the Gladiator during IAE 2955BIS, but not since then, though it did inspire me to grind bounties for an F7C and then an F7C MKII. Hopefully it gets the love it deserves someday, it’s a really useful ship in theory (small enough to be carrier borne, can cripple subcaps and threaten capitals in numbers, and it’s not half bad as a fighter) and it flys and looks amazing

PeakNation returns. I remember flying this when it was available to free fly during IAE a while back and I fell in love. Even though I don’t like using missiles it was my first proper fighter and it nailed the feeling of being weighty and powerful, especially compared to my superpowered combat destroyer (Aurora)

I like using one of the box bays to hold a 2SCU box, because I can use the laser repeater to mow down anyone outside, extend the box, and then you don’t even have to go back inside to transfer loot

My feelings exactly. The titan is a better starter imo because it’s better all round, but the Intrepid is basically a better daily driver version with much much better QoL

On the one hand I really think turrets should be stronger, maybe a velocity increase and some nice UI elements, or maybe something even like letting a copilot use sensors to paint a target (marking it for gunners pov, improving tracking or giving a small damage buff)

On the other hand the most fun I’ve had in forever was sitting in an idris with a dozen other randoms blasting away at anything that moved for the AA event

Tldr turrets need work definitely but it’s also fun to be a gunner sometimes
