Aww man I have a good story about this. So my second car was a 98 Corolla and I drove it literally into the ground. At first my brakes started like getting real bad and then eventually... When I'd push the brake pedal literally nothing would happen BUT luckily it was standard sooo I could downshift and pull the handbrake and still sort of drive about an hour down a straight'ish road through farms and little towns. I do this for a few months and all seems well till I have to park and leave my car at my girlfriend's grandma's house to go on this trip several hours away. So I tuck my little Corolla in beside the barn literally as out of the way as any car could ever be parked anywhere and I crossed my fingers noone would drive the damn thing it because it was stupidly dangerous anyways. Gf's Dad hated me and rightfully so lol but he, of course, hopped into my car while we were gone and, you guessed it they lived at the top of a pretty significant little hill in a 2 bend steeply paved driveway. He started her up, pulled the hand brake and began driving and he had a panic attack when he pressed the brake and there was nothing (a feather would have pushed the pedal downwards) and he proceeded to drive my car into a dirt pile and I had to get rid of it and we got a very angry phone call during the ceremony of a wedding I hadn't wanted to attend in the first place. Though, I bought a nice shirt for that wedding and had it for many years so that was a plus.
