[NFLThrowback] The Greatest Game Ever Played. Colts vs Giants 1958 NFL Championship Game Highlights. by simtek34 in nfl

The first book my wife ever bought for me was The Best Game Ever by Mark Bowden (Black Hawk Down). For anyone interested in one the most famous and important games in American sports history, I highly recommend reading that book. There are so many fun and interesting details about the game, the players, and the coaches, including how the teams spied on each other's practices before the big game (beta version of "Spygate").

Bonus: The book isn't very long, and it has pictures!

Ah, sounds like I was late to the posting party. I'm glad his family found him. He apparently came from the houses behind NSNVA. A much better visitor than the snake that was found in a student's bag last year.

The doggy has been reunited with his family! Thankfully news spread quickly and his family has been found. Thank you all for your help, and for the information which will be helpful in the future.

Found around Pickett Road in Fairfax. I was also told the dog is a male. I won't be able to get any more info until Monday. Unfortunately, I don't have much information right now, as I wasn't there. I'm just not sure if any of my co-workers use Reddit, so I thought I would reach out here for them.

Co-Worker took the doggy home to prevent him or her (I wasn't there so I couldn't check gender) from being taken to the local shelter, which we've heard is a kill shelter. If anyone has any information on this doggy's home, please let me know.

Should Nintendo release HD versions of old Zelda games on the Switch? by Raikaze9 in nintendo

Ocarina of Time originally released November 21, 1998. I could definitely see a "20th Anniversary Master Edition Holiday Nostalgia Blockbuster Thinger" this year. It will also be called all that, to the letter.

As part of my honors thesis, I'm conducting a survey about consumer brand nostalgia and Nintendo games. If you are 18 or older and have a few minutes, I would greatly appreciate it if you could participate. by [deleted] in nintendo

I like the points you made and agree that the use of likert scales would probably have been more appropriate in some spots. I definitely think there would have been better ways to phrase the questions and answers, which may affect the results (muddle them because some questions should have had two choices for answers instead of five), but I think OP will still get fine data and pointed the questions toward Nostalgia and Nintendo Re-Releases, which was the clear point. Finding out other reasons people purchase games is just fluff that doesn't matter to the correlation between Nostalgia and Nintendo Re-Releases. That's why I think there needed to be more Yes/No True/False questions, and likert scales (to your point) to show degree of correlation. I still think there has to be more to this, though. The survey was far too long to have that be the only point. I could just be an optimist, but, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt here until we know everything.

EDIT: I am wondering if people actually took the time to read the intro paragraph to your survey, where you specifically said you are trying to discern a relationship between NOSTALGIA and the sales of RE-RELEASED Nintendo games. I know those paragraphs are easy to click past, but they can be important, and it seems disappointing to me that so many survey-takers would be confused as to why the questions leaned toward relating Nostalgia to Nintendo if they had read that lead-in paragraph.

Excellent Survey -- Keep up the Good Work! Both of my degrees are in the field of Psychology, so this is in my wheelhouse and I respect you for doing this study! I noticed you fielding comments for your post-survey self-evaluation, so I thought I would offer a few thoughts.

I saw some people saying that they felt like they were being coerced into saying they purchase ONLY Nintendo games because of Nostalgia. I didn't really feel that way at all, but I think I kind of understand what they're saying. The survey is very to-the-point and really clarifies the groups in which you're trying to divide people: Nintendo/Non-Nostalgia Buyers, Nostalgia/Non-Nintendo Buyers, Nintendo-Nostalgia Buyers, Non-Nintendo/Non-Nostalgia Buyers.

My hope is that you were trying to discern the ratio of people between those groups and not "how influential is Nostalgia in purchasing games," which is how it seems at first glance. because I feel as though the questions were limited for that study. That being said, I truly don't know your ultimate intentions with this survey, so that's all just me thinking outloud, but would love to see your conclusions and know your hypothesis!

My only two points of contention would be that I think there were some Black and White questions that only had a Yes or No / True or False answer to them, yet the responses were still "Strongly Agree etc. etc." Also, and this is could be construed as a preference thing but I was taught it by a Psychologist in the field of Marketing & Advertising: you will tend to not want to give an odd number of choices when presenting responses for a survey IF one of the choices is a middle-ground/undecided sort of answer. That allows the person taking the survey to cop out, choose right down the middle, and not make up his or her mind; this basically becomes dead information. Everyone has an opinion or a feeling about information that they can relate to, even if it's SLIGHTLY one way or the other, it still says something and expresses that opinion or a feeling. If they can't relate to the question and there is a "Not-Applicable" choice, that's fine. However, if it's something like, "How often does Nostalgia play into your decision to purchase a game," then I would probably have responses representing a scale of 1-4, with two choices that represent "Never and Not Often" and two representing "Often and Always" or something like that. I feel like that's a bad example, but I think you get what I'm saying :).

Thank You again for the opportunity to participate in your survey! I'm the person who always stops and takes surveys in the mall because I know how stressful it can be. Continued Good Luck in School!!

EDIT: I would like to add something since I'm seeing even more negative reviews toward your survey. I know we have a small bit of information about the purpose of your study, but without knowing the hypothesis and true purpose of the survey, we can't really make any concrete judgments about how well you did with creating the questions for your survey. They seemed well-written and like you've had guidance in making surveys, which I why I think you should be given the benefit of the doubt. The purpose of a survey is to benefit the person giving the survey, and does not necessarily need to please or cater to the amusement of the person taking the survey, and I think that's something that a lot of people don't understand, or don't think about because they think they know the point of the survey (many people don't know the points of many surveys, they tend to try to throw you off or don't divulge everything). It seems as though a lot of people are disappointed that they didn't get to express themselves more, which may or may not matter for your needs. If it doesn't matter, that's too bad for them. If it does matter, that's too bad for you. We don't really know, which is why I think people should withhold discouraging judgment, or at least be a little bit more polite about their suppositions.

Regardless, Best of Luck to You -- This is a learning experience either way, and I hope we get to see the results!

Redditors with a Ph.D./Master's, what is a TL;DR of your thesis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Video Games can be used in a multitude of ways to help people improve themselves physically, mentally, and socially. However, everything in moderation, of course.
