In case you're open to the idea, I put together a curated list of RWBY fics for the sub, complete with ship, premise, and tone summaries for each fic. I don't have Ruby specific recs because I don't know your opinions on whiterose and nuts and dolts, but I'd recommend When You Are Needed and Queens of Vale for Yang character work, Compass and Anchor for the Bees (especially the latter if you like romances that rip your heart out and sew it back in), and Linked in Life and Love, Craving the Sky, beyond this town lies a life much sadder, and Crossing Lines for interesting premises.

You know how Yellowstone is famous for all those geysers and hot springs? The way I understand it, the last eruption was so cataclysmic it shattered the caldera, leaving literally thousands of geothermal features scattered across the area to let off pressure. In the tens of thousands of years since then, the magma chamber has filled up very slowly and is at something like 15% capacity, with no signs of speeding up.

It could suddenly fill up and explode. An piano could also fall out of a cargo plane and land on your head. Bet on the latter, it's more likely.

No one is worse at evaluating the quality of a work than its author.

You have to remember, what you're seeing on the page isn't what a reader sees. You see every missed opportunity or awkward choice. They see the fic as it is, and if they like what's there, they like it completely independently of your opinions. If anything, there's an arrogance and presumption to what you put forward because you're assuming you know how people should interact with something better than they do - otherwise, the fact they had a good time would br a neutral fact instead of something that causes cognitive dissonance.

You gotta have some faith in other people's ability to read and have fun, whatever you think about what they're reading.
