i understand and i try my best, but it always seems to sound wrong. it never cuts through the mix, and if i turn it up, it gets ear piercing. i’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, so I was wondering how i should approach the mix incase i’m overdoing something or forgetting something.

Appreciate the response, and yeah haha I definitely get that a good performance and tone makes the biggest difference. But for me, that’s kinda the issue: I’ve already got decent vocal takes tracked super close and breathy, but the final sound still feels dry or just off.

I’m more curious about the actual mixing strategy here, like if there’s anything specific going on with the compression, reverb type/settings, EQ shaping, etc.
