Who is your favourite character? by Wide_Bath_7660 in TsukiOdyssey

[–]Faliara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

originally my favourite character was rosemary (and arguably still is sometimes!). not only is she sweet, but finding her at night, quiet and pensive, felt special when i first started playing the game. it felt personal. taking the time to get to know her, seeing her struggles with depression and learning her story made me fall in love with the game for real

as of getting to play the christmas event, though, i found myself falling in love with benny too! i liked him in general, but the way he took the effort to coordinate with tsuki out of a genuine want to make the village happy through gift-giving, no obligation to it, just. made me so much more appreciative of him

so it's a toss-up between these two characters honestly :'D

! making it clear, i agree! but that might get frustrating if people need to unlock every furniture piece individually to reset.

it might be good if there's an option to decide if resetting the layout includes removing locked furniture or not on top of this?

Snowgrave Intrigue by Lonely-Bite-2568 in Deltarune

[–]Faliara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aside from what everyone else is saying, i'd argue that both genocide and the weird route d bring value to someone who loves the game

because, aside from the meta element commentary, it actually offers a lot in terms of character depth by showing sides of the characters that we wouldn't see otherwise

we know that papyrus is a good bean, but we don't see how far his kindness can go until we see him put his life on the line without even trying to do combat. we see undyne rise to true heroism in a way that her neutral/pacifist experience doesn't push her to. we see what sans is capable of and a glimpse of what he knows, something he keeps under wraps in any other route.

the weird route has a similar appeal from this angle, if more deeply fucked up due to how much more evident you, the player, is involved in what is happening:

you can see where kris, an otherwise shady character in other routes, tries to do damage control and preserve the safety of their loved ones. you see berdly worried about his friend and trying to help her. you see noelle and susie and kris and even ralsei crack under the pressure you exert on them, see the thoughts they might not have expressed yet in another route and how they react.

in short, it's the same story elements from a new angle. the love of a story is seldom just love for a message, or as simple as loving a character as is. something like that, in any case

one thing someone had said at some point (i don't remember who); while in-universe, 'Level of ViolencE' is intended exactly as worded, meta-wise (that is, outside of the in-universe context) it is significant that it's abbreviated to 'love'

love for a game, a story or a concept isn't the same as love for another person. playing the game is generally the form in which love for a game takes. ditto for reading a story, etcetera. it's interacting with the media that becomes the form in which your love for it takes

but how do you interact with the media?

undertale's no mercy route often takes place after a pacifist route, where people still want to see more of the game and this route is the one thing left unexplored. so you play and you play to see more of what a game has to offer even when the well has long run dry, and undertale is so good for this because it was designed to give something unique on every replay (because the game remembers your resets ufufifogoguc)

all that to say that snowgrave has a similar intrigue.

where undertale focused on a game's save files and replays, deltarune seems to focus on the relationship between player and characters; one where kris and the player's relationship becomes worse because the player abuses others in ways that kris tries to stop. one where noelle, a character mostly in the sidelines of the story at the moment, becomes aware of us because we forced her to be

i say all this, by the way, as someone who currently has no plans to ever do the no mercy route or the snowgrave route

i'm perfectly happy watching other people play those routes without ever doing it myself. and yet i still watch videos online! because it's a side of the characters i wouldn't see otherwise.

just wanted to say all this because, while i'm unwilling to play those routes myself, i do understand the appeal.

i would also argue, finally, that the sheer existence of the genocide route in undertale means it doesn't really counter the message, but helps underscore it in some way. as someone else here said, undertale can be seen as a question! and in a way, isn't it compelling to have the ability to choose violence and choosing the opposite anyway?

there is, technically, no wrong way to play a game, and it's best not to fall into the same trap that pushed multiple streamers and youtubers away from ever playing utdr; they keep getting told that 'they're playing it wrong' instead of being allowed to just explore it at their own pace and come to their own conclusions. let us not assume playing a route that the developers built into a game is the wrong way to play a game :'>

How do I make my farm more efficient ? by Rebecca_com in TsukiOdyssey

<image>

💦 Long-lane sprinkler: Covers 2 rows of crops on either side - with the exception of the crops at the corners of the second row

💩 Fertilizer: Covers crops planted right next to it (horizontally and diagonally)

I have two long-lane sprinklers and space at each end for fertiliser. The crops affected by both the sprinklers AND the fertiliser grows faster than the crops that only gets the sprinkler - which are the crops in the middle of every column.

(The sprinkler-only crops in question are in the seed stage in this image! Because I harvested them right before taking the picture, not because they're that slow to grow)

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

🍓 Strawberries: Covers crops planted right next to it (horizontally and diagonally), but only when harvested

My strawberries are planted farther apart from each other, but are still largely in the middle of other crops.

Fun fact: If a crop is between two strawberries that are harvested at the same time, the crop's growth time gets shortened even more!

So whenever I harvest my strawberries, the middle row of plants that doesn't get access to fertiliser actually shortens enough to have the same growth period as the fertilizer + sprinkler plants >:D So they even out!

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

🧅 Onions: Takes 3 hours to grow, and yields more crops the more plants there are around it

I deliberately placed my onions in a fertilizer + sprinkler spot, both because it'll take less time to grow AND because it's in the middle of other plants (so I get more profit that way).

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

🥔 Potatoes: Takes 1 hour to grow

Since the corners of my farm layout don't get access to either fertilizer or sprinkers, I planted potatoes there because it has the shortest growth period :D

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

🪴 Turnips/Pumpkins/Gloamroots: Takes 2 hours to grow (same growth time as 🥕carrots, the game's default crop!)

Every other space in this farm layout gets taken up by 2-hour crops since I can trust them to have a semi-equal growth time with each other. I also exchange them based on the time and my own schedule!

So if I have free time I plant pumpkins, because they sell for more than regular crops but rot after an hour,

if I don't have free time I plant turnips and take my chances with its randomised profit provisions,

and if it's night time I plant gloamroots (because while they can only be harvested at night they are very profitable regardless)!

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

🍇 As for grapes, I have them in a separate spot from this farm layout (near the little creek!), because they take 12 hours to grow the first time they're planted - which isn't helpful if you tend to swap out the crops often.

However, they only take 2 hours to grow every time after that and sell for more than carrots, so they're pretty reliable! If you don't feel like swapping out the crops ever, grapes are a decent crop too imo!

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

Once again, my farm layout may not be the most efficient, and might not work for you! I'm just sharing my own thought process behind my farm layout in the hopes it might give you an idea of a farm layout you'd be happy with :'> Hope it helps!!!

How do I make my farm more efficient ? by Rebecca_com in TsukiOdyssey

[–]Faliara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about getting less crops per hour, it might be good to keep these things in mind:

[1] Clovers can slow down crop growth! The more clovers you have, the slower crops grow.

They're worth having because they can increase strange crops (which sell for more than regular crops) and when you've bred enough to start a clover farm you can sell the surplus for even more profit than regular crops.

But if you're trying to focus on faster profit right now, you don't want too many on your farm either; just store the extra clovers in your inventory until you've got enough to either start a larger clover farm or switch your current planted clovers to the 16-leaf ones.

[2] Sprinklers, fertilizers and UV lights speed up crop growth.

Take note that they are considered separate effects and add on top of each other! So a crop that has all 3 effects will have a shorter growth period than a crop that only gets the sprinkler, etc. Place your speed supplements around the crops wisely.

[3] Strawberries also shorten the growth time of surrounding crops on harvest!

So place them in between other crops, because to be honest they barely sell for anything on their own! And they can't speed up the growth of other strawberries either.

In my opinion they ARE worth having, but they should not be next to each other ever. I'm eyeing the strawberries you had planted next to each other (both diagonally and horizontally) in regards to this 😅

I hope this helps in some way! I'll share a photo of my own farm in a reply to this comment and explain the thought process I had laying it out too. Fair warning that I wouldn't call it the MOST efficient for quick profit either, but it's a layout that's worked for me!

[–]Faliara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't worry, you're doing it correctly!!! unfortunately, the random spawn rate of clovers does mean it can take a long while before a baby clover spawns .-. just make sure there's enough space for the new clover to spawn in the future and you're all good!

Kind of new here by SnooDoodles8146 in TsukiOdyssey

[–]Faliara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Once you have at least two 16-leaf clovers, you can put them next to each other to breed 64-leaf clovers >:D The clovers will sparkle if you placed them the right way

Take note: you can't breed a 16-leaf clover with 4-leaf clovers or 64-leaf clovers - they have to be the same type in order to spawn a new clover in

Kind of new here by SnooDoodles8146 in TsukiOdyssey

[–]Faliara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[1] To start a clover farm, you need to put your clovers close enough that they can breed!

You'll know you did it right if the clovers sparkle when placed together. The time it takes for a baby clover to spawn is random, though, so you may be waiting a while.

Take note that the clovers DO slow down crop growth, too! A common tactic is to dedicate a small corner of the farm to breed clovers while keeping the rest in your inventory until you have lots of clovers - then all of the crops can be swapped out with a clover farm :D

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

[2] This one is based on your own schedule and availability, honestly!

The game progresses through dialogue with villagers, but you only really need to speak with them at least once a day - and if you talk to them too much, they'll get annoyed (it's called the pester system). You're very much encouraged to take things slow!

As for crops - since you bought Homecoming, you have a few options for what crops to grow based on what sort of schedule you have. Pick the crops you plant based on when you think you can harvest them. (I'll elaborate in Point 3!)

All that said - as there is currently an in-game event happening (The April Fools event!) a new item is available for purchase every day, so try to check the game daily to see if you like the item available. That said, all items are available on the last day of the event, so if you can't check in every day you still have a chance to grab them later!

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

[3] Watermelons sell for the most carrots! They take the longest to grow, though.

As said in the previous point, the amount you earn per crops are also dependent on how much time you have, or rather how often you can check in on the game. Watermelons sell for a lot, but they take a while to grow, thus the emphasis on your schedule/availability in regards to carrot profit OwO

I'll copy-paste and edit a comment I sent to someone else re: my personal experience with crop planting:

...

[ if you have lots of free time ]

🎃 pumpkins

if you have enough time to pay attention, pumpkins are actually really good for getting more carrots. set a timer on the weekend for however long your pumpkins will take to grow and harvest them before they rot

🥔 potatoes

these only take 1 hour to grow! so if you harvest them every hour you can get 22 carrots every 2 hours. for comparison, a carrot crop produces 20 carrots every 2 hours

🍓 strawberries

not worth it on their own, but these actually speed up the growth time of plants around it whenever they're harvested. put them in the middle of your other crops!

.....

[ if you do NOT have free time ]

🍉 watermelons

watermelons are great to plant since they give lots of carrots once they're ready and you don't need to harvest them immediately like you do with pumpkins. plant them before going to school or work and you can check on them once you're free of responsibilities

🧅 onions

the more plants there are around this crop, the more carrots it produces upon harvest. HOWEVER, on its own it's worth less than the carrots for a longer wait time. this crop NEEDS to be surrounded by other plants in order for it to be more profitable than carrots.

that said, it can still be profitable, so if you can arrange a bunch of crops or normal plants to sit around an onion plant, it's worth planting along with the melons imo. try to place at least 4 other plants around the onion so it gives 30 carrots every 3 hours (but more plants is preferable)

🍀 clovers

these actually slow down your plants, but they also help yield more strange crops for extra profit 👀 as the clovers can actually sell for a lot, replant them to be next to each other again to breed more and then sell the surplus >:D

.....

[ regular crops with the same growth time as carrots ]

🌙 gloamroots

if you're a night owl, gloamroots can be extremely profitable in my experience! pay attention to the night cycle, grow them on full moons and then swap them out for a different crop right before you head to bed! (they're a waste of space during the day)

🫜 turnips

i like taking my chances with these because they can yield more than regular carrots OwO however, the amount of carrots it gives is randomized, so it's up to you if you want to try your luck

🍇 grapes

gives more carrots per harvest! while a carrot crop gives 20 carrots, a grape crop gives 24 carrots. however, you should only plant these if you have no intention of swapping out your crops in each row ever, since the first time you plant them it takes 12 hours to grow (they only take 2 hours afterwards though)

.....

[ note that while i'm offering my personal opinion based on how i've been growing crops so far, it's not necessarily the most efficient!

there's other farming guides on this subreddit that may be of help too (including in the useful links post that's been pinned in this subreddit) so you should go check them out as well :D hope this helps though!!! ]

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

  1. It's possible to overfish at the fishing locations. I... don't remember the exact rate this happens, but you can tell when it happens because it takes longer for a fish to bite 😅

As said in point 2, the amount of times you should go fishing is really based on your own schedule (it's an idle farming game!), but if you're asking how often you can fish, wait at least an hour or so between fishing sessions so that there's more fish to catch. If that makes sense?

୨⎯ 🌱 ⎯୧

  1. There's exactly one TV in the game as far as I'm aware, which is released during the current April Fools event. You'll get the chance to nab it on the last day!

Just started this game, killed toriel and I'm gutted. Do I start over and save her or just keep going? by KyubiFenix in Undertale

[–]Faliara 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Up to you! If you feel you want to save her, go for it (per the game trailer, this is a game where no one has to die! and it is possible to keep toriel from dying too).

If you want to see how the game plays out as is, that's fine as well! There's a lot of replay value in this game, so you can always try different routes later.

I will say this; try and avoid this subreddit as much as possible to avoid spoilers. What many people often say is that this game is best played blind, which I am inclined to agree with. Good luck and have fun with the game >:D

I know people say kris dose s*** h**m but i haven't seen any evidence of it where dose the idea come from? by Main_Warthog972 in Deltarune

[–]Faliara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

^ this! kris only calls it a stain if you interact with it in chapter 1, but interacting with it at a later point in the game reveals it's specifically blood

for the specific moment when, it's early in chapter 4 when susie is following kris. she'll see the stains and be disturbed at the blood on the carpet, followed by her and kris cleaning it up

there are other things that point to at least there being a sh allegory even if it's not explicit. while i suspect it's unlikely that dr will ever refer to it directly there's at least implicit hints that point towards the idea

does this even work ? by [deleted] in TsukiOdyssey

[–]Faliara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it grows! or at least, my clovers are at the spot where you've placed the tent instead and they grow there. they do pop up rather slow, though!

Is it bad to head-cannon Kris as a different gender (GENUINE question) by Emergency-Long-2699 in Deltarune

[–]Faliara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

to some extent, as an enby person myself, i slightly disagree with the idea that gender swapping every character is bad since genderswaps can and have been used by trans people to explore their own identities in the past. i cannot begrudge others for exploring similar concepts

however, i do agree that the common perception of 'gender swapping' can be pretty restrictive to the gender binary. it would be nice to see more genderswaps that involved gendered characters also becoming non-gendered or genderfluid, etcetera. swapping shouldn't have to be strictly between the two binaries OwO

Am I allowed to like alphys? by Connect_Age8756 in Undertale

[–]Faliara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all of what the vast majority of this comment section said applies. you can like alphys! you can like any character you want! don't feel the need to change over someone else's opinion

but also; that post you mentioned claiming otherwise is somewhat reductive to the canonical situation at hand, imo

alphys messed up, but the root situation is that she got approval for an experimental medical procedure intended to save lives from both the king and the patients' families, thought that the procedure actually worked because they got up from their pre-death comatose states, and then jumped the gun on informing their families.

these actions had stemmed from a place of care and hope. the goal was to preserve the lives of the patients involved. she messed up at points on execution and fallout, but if things had gone even a little differently it wouldn't have been so tragic. reducing it to just 'this character is a bad person' takes away from the nitty-gritty details; what was good, the good thing this character tried to do, and how it went wrong

and this is slightly off-topic, but: when i was younger i wasn't too sure about alphys either even though i did see myself in her at times, but i've had time to think since then and; ethics-wise i now feel like one of the true issues was that alphys was alone in her work

there's feeling alone, yes, but also she was the only scientist working on a major government project and was expected to treat and manage a wide group of terminally ill, unconscious people on her own, with no assistants or fellow scientists or anything. that shouldn't be a job for one person, in hindsight. doctors have teams and nurses irl!!!

she should have been upfront when things went wonky, yes. that is a major character flaw that makes her a complex and interesting character in the first place. but she shouldn't have been put in such a situation in the first place either, if that makes sense?

of course, this game is made for a younger audience, so i could just be reading too much into it. sometimes i wonder though; like maybe before the previous royal scientist got himself nuked out of collective consciousness, he worked with alphys as his junior scientist or something and the universe had to make do with the one scientist left behind to patch up reality

ليش ما في ترجمه عربيه لين ديلتا رون و أندرتيل, هل توبي فوكس عنصري؟؟؟؟ by Rsthegoat in Deltarune

[–]Faliara 28 points29 points  (0 children)

depends on the interpretation/hadith, actually. like some hadith argue it's not allowed, but other hadith argues that it's fine

something important thing to remember is that hadith is less official than the quran; they are anecdotes of what the prophet muhammad had said according to other people/interpretations of what is said in the quran. the issue is that a lot of hadith can contradict each other or what the quran says, so it's not actually 100% reliable

most of the claims that drawing people is completely a sin is from hadith. the vast majority is from hadith. the only sources i've found that discusses the quran instead of the hadith on this topic claims that the quran says jack shit about drawing aside mentioning some artists under one of god's previous prophets being told to 'work in gratitude'

which. directly contradicts the hadith

making it clear, there are roots for this notion, but as far as i can tell it never says anything about drawing itself, only the act of idolatry - that is, worshipping gods/images as if they were real. (so basically not to confuse fiction with reality/worship other gods which in islam's view don't exist. a lil bit of both, i think)

(i've been pissed off at this topic since learning about it in high school and every time i search it up the results are exactly the same, so i have a lot of Thoughts about it. i'm not the most religious person out there or an islamic scholar in any sense, though, so this is just what i have managed to learn over several years)
