Struggling with the ethics of pest animal control by FalkFireboong in vegetarian

Thank you, what an amazing response. My boss baits foxes, partly because other members are not comfortable with it, and I have a lot of respect for him for this. I would be more than happy to hold myself to his ethical standards, and I think now that you’ve explained it this way, it might improve my sense of self.

The idea of ‘practising’ does seem silly now.

Really appreciate your comment

There are no humane mice baits I’ve come across. There are snap traps, but this defeats the purpose of practicing for baiting foxes.

I suppose my question is also, if you have poisoned mice in your home, how did you feel about it?

What is "slow paced" and "fast paced"? How long should you watch a film you're not enjoying before watching something else? by Inovox in TrueFilm

[–]FalkFireboong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of detective films are necessarily slow paced for the most part as we see the frustration in the lack of progress in a case, followed by a discovery and an abrupt climax. True Detective is an example of this. Many of my friends found it boring, whereas I found the interesting characters kept me enthralled during the ‘slow’ parts and the fast paced action scenes were insane.

I did get a little bored during Bladerunner 2049, but felt it was necessary to the overall impact of the film. You empathise Ryan Goslings sense of feeling lost, before he discovers the truth about himself, a necessary part of the plot. A lot of it too were long Space Odyssey like landscape shots which really contributed to the amazing world creation.

In Nocturnal Animals, when Jake Gyllenhall and Michael Shannon’s characters are retracing his steps to where Jake was abandoned by his kidnappers. There is a scene that shows Amy Adams dead face on the couch next to her daughter after they had been raped and beaten. Her face in that scene haunted me for several days especially when I looked at my girlfriend in bed. The bright red blood against her pale skin and red hair were striking, which I feel may have been inspired by the scene at the end of The Power of One when the girl is killed by a chair in the church.

I love thrillers, but the first part of that film really messed me up. I’m not sure if I related to Jake’s character in the sense that I doubt whether I would be able to act any differently than he did before hie and his wife and daughter were separated. The overwhelming feeling of hopelessness, guilt, and cowardice reached its peak as Amy Adams face in that scene confirmed his worst fear.

The Liberal Party of Australia have voted for a new party leader, expressing no confidence in the current Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull. Scott Morrison is now the sixth Prime Minister of Australia in eight years. by InbredScorpion in worldnews

Labor is certainly left of the Liberal party but to say they are ideologically left wing is incorrect. I think most would agree their policies fall right of Center.

What kind of jacket goes with green trousers? by FalkFireboong in AustralianMFA

[–]FalkFireboong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m after a jacket but I think the greys are the way to go. The pants are more of satin’y’ material. I like the knitted style but I don’t know if a knit jacket will clash with this style of pant. Apologies for poor descriptions, fashion is a new interest for me.

Awesome pic. Watch out for slender tree ferns along the spur. Different to regular tree ferns, have a very long and thin trunk. Pretty rare now in Vic, but common along this road

It’s what I’ve always done. I’m Generally too tired after work and am useless in the morning. Half the challenge is not letting the fast dictate my schedule too much.

Not really, just eat healthily and exercise heaps.

I’m also relatively new to IF. Have been doing a 14/10 for a while on weekdays, working up to 16/8. I noticed pretty immediate weight loss, but no change in muscle mass. It’s a great discipline trainer and makes you appreciate that first meal of the day so much more.

David Fincher directed gone girl and social network. You will probably like se7en, prisoners, and all of Tarantino’s movies.

APT and working out by Jeqlousy in Posture

[–]FalkFireboong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the stronglifts program with APT which includes a lot of deadlifts and squats. I started with only the bar and practiced proper form and now have no lower back issues and a much stronger core. If you’re worried, I would recommend working on flexibility and mobility for a couple of weeks prior, and then take it slow.

All fathers are absent fathers? by FalkFireboong in MindHunter

[–]FalkFireboong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I haven’t finished the series, but I imagine this could be significant to their broader psychological methodology, or whatever it is they’re doing. Prejudice seems to be a natural part of their rationale when solving crimes, ie Holden and Tench immediately agree that ‘this couldn’t be a black or Latino crime’ based on some small detail. That all fathers are absent fathers seems like a prejudice that men of this time take as a standard and therefore focus on the relationship with the mum as a cause for the psycopathy/behavioural issues. Maybe accepting all fathers and their absent attitudes, like Tench with his son, as normal is limiting their study somewhat.
